Osento is an institution. It is a tiny little place that used to be someone's house, remodeled to feature two hot showers, one big hot tub, one cold plunge outside, a dry sauna, a wet sauna, and a deck where you can look at the stars. And a quiet room for napping! And a room for massage! Oh, it is a happy place. There's no clothing allowed, which can be scary for people but also really equalizes everyone. There's tons of filtered water and sliced limes on tap. And for a women-only spa, they have a pretty friendly gender policy - they're inclusive of post-op transwomen and of trannyboys too. Also: only $12 to stay there as long as you want! (I think they're open from noon to midnight every day) Cheaper if you buy ten visits at once - then it's more like $7. So great!

As a business traveller to San Francisco, the Marines' Memorial Club is the greatest bargin in the City. I've been a member going on five years now, and it has always proven to be a relaxed, gracious, commodious, yet dignified evironment from which to plan out your day in the City.
I do a good deal of international travel, and belong to a number of private member clubs in Europe & Asia, and I find that the MMC is at the top of these clubs & hotels in management efficiency, members' service & ambience. This is particularly true for ladies & gentlemen of a certain age, who have no desire for accommodation "adventures", and just want everything to go well, and for them to have an excellent experience. Every aspect of the club's hotel, bar & restauant service is just simply excellent. The rooms & suites are equally elegant, and most affordable. Seemingly, every detail has been provided for, and all needs anticipated.
The membership is well within the range of many Americans. You must be either on active duty in the U. S. Armed Forces, or our allies, or be a military retiree. If you fall into either of these catagories, I highly recommend that you pursue membership, as you will never get a better room, meal, or drink, anywhere in San Francisco.
Pros: Location, Member's Service, Ambience, Rates, Outstanding Views of the City
Cons: Gee, it sits on a steep hill - that's the best I can do.
