Bernal Beast is a cute little neighborhood pet store in Bernal Heights. I don't go to Bernal Beast to buy my everyday pet supplies, because its just a little too expensive and the selection is somewhat limited. I like going to Bernal Beast when I am walking around on Cortland on the weekends. The store is appealing and has a friendly staff. They have great cat toys and natural treats that my kittens go crazy over.

This is one of the cutest pet shops I have been in. They have the most beautiful collections of dog clothes. They have gourmet dog food and they will even give you samples so you can take it home for your dog to try. Very friendly place to visit. Your pets are welcome at this store.

If, like me, you prefer to avoid giant chain stores as much a possible (well, except in the case of the joy that is Target) and you have pets, you may be on the lookout for small pet stores. I've found a nice one in the Bernal Beast. It's less a gift shop, which is what you frequently get from the boutique pet shop, and more a little supply station for those with urban pets. They carry all the basics from litter boxes to dog food with a nice selection of toys, treats, and accessories. The staff is friendly and Cortland location is convenient to anyone who lives in Bernal or the Outter Mission.

Bernal Beast is great because they have a section where you can put together a bag of different treats for your dog. I have a 3lb chihuahua and he likes to go here. I checked it out originally looking for clothes and found them to be a little pricey. The people who work here are really nice though, and they do have quite a collection of toys. Also, parking on Cortland can be difficult, however, if you live in the neighborhood, I imagine it would be your first stop for doggy stuff.
