I always thought the idea of a neighborhood hardware store was a farce. But Cole Hardware is just that. So much so, I’ve been throwing around the idea of buying one of their sharp looking black t-shirts, logo emblazoned on the front. What an important role this place plays when you need something for the apartment! A light bulb, some screws, paint. Prices are reasonable and every so often there are sales – I’ve bought two, high quality iron skillets here, lured by discounts. Everyone who works here is friendly and helpful, and the place is so jam packed with stuff, they usually have whatever you need to fix whatever it is that’s broken or needs improvement.

I love going into this store because there is a wide variety. A handyman can find paint, tools, hardware, light fixtures, ladders, etc. A simple housewife can find kitchen and bathroom cleaning supplies. Keys can be made in a jiffy. There are a lot of employees who are always ready to help or answer questions.

Roberts Hardware is a reminder that even through the beats, the hippies, and all the dilapidation that has happened since, there are folks who have lived in Haight for one reason or another, just doing their thing, probably slightly annoyed by the hectic scene ebbing and flowing around their regular lives. These people don't need $150 pairs of jeans or a 3-foot dragon bong so much as caulking, paint, hardware, etc. That explains how through the highs and the lows, Roberts has stuck it out since 1931! A neighborhood hardware store for those who, at the end of the love in, have to go home to their pad and build shelves or unclog a toilet...

I went to the Kelly Moore store with my friend to pick out new paint for her nursery. I had never heard of this store before, but now I will never go anywhere else. We had such array of colors to choose from. The paints are all mixed right there and we bought all the supplies as well. The employees were very helpful too.

This store is packed from wall to wall with everything a do-it-yourselfer needs. Paint, locks, even key making, plumbing parts, replacement parts for appliances or fixtures not to mention everyday household cleaners are available here. There are a lot of employees here who are always so busy but still stop to ask you if they can be of any help or service.

If you live in Glen Park and your light bulb burned out you've probably been here and realized it isn't half bad.
It's very convenient and offers pretty much everything you might need. Nothing to fancy but it holds all the basics. They have normal 9-5ish hours and are also a couple blocks down from the bart station.

I have been here a few times to get some tools and such for fixer-uppers. They have all sorts of things. I like it here because you don't have to go all the way to Home Depot to buy stuff. Everything is already here. Service is good. I like their prices. I will probably go here again when I need more items to buy.
