Sought this place out with my sister, who'd been before and knew about getting there before 5:30. Absolutely true. We got right in, and watched a horde form outside our window table. The food was stupendous. Flavors and combinations unlike anything I've had anywhere. Service excellent and informative, friendly, energetic staff. The decor is gorgeous. Topnotch

Every time I go there, the food just makes me happy. My boyfriend and I have been there at least 3 times in the last two months or so. Get the Wiener Schnitzel - the ultimate comfort food and it's just plain delicious!

I kept hearing about this place but it's in the Marina so it took awhile for me to get there. Now I wish there was one closer to me because I have no choice but to travel there repeatedly. It has a modern yet casual atmosphere--good place to sit down and enjoy eating great food (sort of a garden meets a Swedish wood sauna). If you like fresh local food as an ingredient in almost every item on the menu, you need to check this place out. They offer beautiful salads and allow you to have your own created with local organic farm produce. If you don't mind paying a bit, they have delicious organic juices made for you as you wait (this can take awhile so don't go there in peak hours if you want a quick juice to go). The appetizers and entrees range from Californian to Asian in style. If you want a hamburger don't go. They only offer free range organic chicken, shrimp and wild sustainable fish - the fresh halibut with seasonal vegetables and grains is amazing. If you care about where what you eat comes from, like the idea of fresh seasonal ingredients and don't want to spend a tonne, this is your place. Oh, and they also have scrumptious home made desserts and a good selection of local organic wines and beer. I give lettus 5 stars for being the best new discovery I've made in years!
Pros: great prices and access to fresh local organic food, delicious and diverse menu, sustainable
Cons: crowded, parking, wait

Yeah, so I wrote a review for Beach Chalet, in which I included Park Chalet since I didn't think they had different listings. Anyway, Park Chalet is great and Taco Tuesday's are a lot of fun! We have been on Sundays for Brunch and during the week. It's a nice place to visit on the weekends when they have bands at night and during the day sometimes on the Lawn and there isn't any fog!
I recommend you get there early and stake your claim to some lawn space and make friends with a bartender! It gets VERY busy around 2:00 p.m. on Sundays...but what can you expect from the best place on the beach to have a beer and some small plates?
We loved the crab tamale and the pizzas! We've ordered from the bar and sat outside. We've also eaten inside many times.
Of course weeknights are better than weekends as far as service is concerned. Try a Taco Tuesday or a random weeknight for GREAT service and excellent food!
Pros: Upscale, contemporary setting with beautiful surroundings of Golden Gate Park
Cons: a lot of people on the weekends

This is my favorite restaurant in the city. The food is amazing and reminds me of eating in small Mom-and Pop restaurants in south Germany. If you think the waiter is short with you, just remember he's GERMAN. That's what Germans are like. I used to think my German cousins were mean, but then I went to Germany and realized thats just how Germans are. The entire staff has never been anything but delightful to me and I go there whenever possible. The food is AMAZING and AUTHENTIC, just like the staff. Just remember to say bitte and danke!

Although this is basically an adult venue, my husband and I recently took our daughter and 5 nicely dressed girlfriends there for a 17th birthday treat. We were seated in the L-shaped booth. Our waitress was very informative about the various plates. We all partook of the lamb sliders (excellent), the little quesedillas, salmon toasts, and the wonderful skinny fries. It seems they pride themselves on using as much locally grown and organic ingredients as possible. Even my Cosmopolitan was composed of an organic vodka with a wonderful swirl of orange rind! We enjoyed Chocolate Potde Creme and Date Cake for dessert. Everything was nicely presented. The head chef came out of the kitchen to make sure we were happy! The atmosphere is sophisticated, friendly, but not intrusive. The decor is set in earthy brown tones with simple glass votive candles adding sophistication. Seating is limited. Great place for a date.
Pros: original drinks, great small plates, atmosphere
Cons: parking
