I have been to Element countless times and everytime has been really fun. This is the place to go if you want to get together with friends and dance! The crowd isn't pretentious and the vibe is somewhat house-party like, which I like because it is easy to meet cool people. My favorite nights are when BlaQuest or Zhaldee are DJing...they are two of the best I have heard in SF. I would recommend arriving before 11 to take advantage of the free admission if you signup on their website.
Pros: great dancing spot, great place to have a party
Cons: the line can get long

I love Lingba Lounge’s Thai food. The service is attentive. I love that there is karaoke on Sundays and the DJ is fantastic. The atmosphere is very hip and a lot of cool people hang around this place. The decor is fantastic, you are really feel like you are in Southeast Asia. If you go here, I recommend you to get the Bowl of Monkeys.

There are only a few places in SF that have good enough drinks to be an actual draw. Otherwise, you’re drinking beer, you’re drinking the same booze from the same bottles. What really matters of course is outside seating on a warm summer evening. How many warm summer evenings do we have here? There can never be enough. You should never squander even one. On such nights, there can never be enough sitting on the sidewalk on Valencia Ave watching the pretty people head to their parties. When the weather’s nice, those few window seats at Blondies are like exclusive ocean side property. Everyone looks at you longingly as you try not to come off as too smug, sipping slowly and assuredly that at least for tonight, you are indeed the mac daddy g of the scene.

I don't think of SF as a comedy town. At least in the sense of lots of people going to see live comedy. Heck, the comedy is free on the streets everyday of the week. Just look out yer window or read about local politics and you'll get all the big laughs you need. However, if you're so dour that you can't find humor in everyday life and you need to spend hard earned entertainment dollars on deliberately forced laughs, the place to go is Cobb's, in SF's Cannery. This is where they bring in all the big names, even the guys that are on TV. I used to work near there and I met Emo Phillips when he was in town. Pretty cool, eh?

I had a strange experience here once where I was a dancer in a Moroccan club music video. The director didn't get quite as many people as he'd hoped, so those of us who'd showed up had to keep dancing and dancing for hours, to the same song, as they shot us from different angles, as if to simulate a large, enthusiastic crowd. I feel like I was there so long, I got to know the Red Devil quite intimately that day, and I really like the place. It's probably my favorite hang out in the neighborhood. Nothin' fancy. Good live bands. That Viv and a movie thing is really cool too...

I have to say this one of the best clubs in San Francisco. They have everything including beautiful music, women, dj's, food, drinks around. You need to be 21 and over to attend. There are plenty of street parking. I love their cocktails also. They have been in business since the 1930's so should know that they are good and well respected.
