I think some of the reviewers for West Portal Nail & Skin Care might be confusing it with West Portal Spa, which is a different nail salon in West Portal. West Portal Nail & Skin Care is on Ulloa, and they only charge $25 for a spa mani/pedi with a massage chair, and warm lotion hand and foot massage!! It's a much better deal than the $45 charged by West Portal Spa, and they treat you nicer.

This is pretty new to the west portal area. I only visited this salon once, and I have to say that it wasn't one of my best expereinces. the place is pretty with everything new and modern. I guess that is what you are paying for. everything is so overpriced that it is ridiculous. They charged me 25 dollars for a simple nail polish appliaction. And it was nothing out of the ordinary either.. no real hand massage or nothing. It s a nice looking place, but way too overpriced.

The first few times I went to this nail care place, I liked the service. They were very warm to me, they made sure I was well taken care of. And then, my disappointment started to set in the next few times I went. The people would make me wait, while there were two women helping one person. The foot massage was so quick, it didn't qualify for a good pedicure. The tools don't seem as clean as they should be, and that is the most important thing when it comes to getting a manicure and pedicure. They charge extra to use OPI nail polish and it still seems to come off the same time as the other polish. This is one place I would go to only when I am in a hurry and don't have time to go to my regular place downtown. There seem to be a lot of regulars here, I wouldn't make it my own regular nail place.
