From the great minds behind Bourbon and Branch, Cask is a specialty liquor shop dedicated to artisinal distilleries, rare bottles you can't find anywhere else, and the cocktail craft. Patrick Heig on

At most liquor stores, there's a small section devoted to rare small-batch and/or artisinal bottles, and row after row of mass-produced hooch from corporate distilleries. The opposite's true at Cask, where the entire stock is made up of connoiseur-grade, esoteric liquors, and only a tiny selection of common-but-respected brands like Jameson. Hard-to-find single malt whiskeys (Highland Park 25yr, Mackillop's Choice) join locally produced spirits like the exquisite vodkas and absinthe from St. Goerge, distilled on a former Naval base in Alameda; in fact, Cask stocks every bottle on offer at Bourbon and Branch (same owners), and then some. Designed for those who take their drinking seriously, the place is an hobby-bartenders dream, stocking over 150 books on booze and all manner of cocktail-making paraphenalia, from strainers, to whippers, to juicers and muddlers.
