The place can get pretty busy and the quarters are a bit cramped but I've found this to be the best Japanese in the city. The Miso is beautifully subtle, lightly flavored with sesame. One thing I highly recommend is the Sesame Chicken which is out of this world. I've searched the city over for the best sesame chicken and without a doubt it's this is the winner. I have seen prettier sushi but the ingredients here are of the best possible quality and are prepared expertly.
Pros: Food, Moderate pricing
Cons: Parking

go to sanraku? i don't really know. the sushi was ok. the udon was tasteless and it was the thin udon you can buy at safeway for those 5 min flavor pouch dinners. when i asked if garlic could be added the waitress took 7-10 min finding out if it was possible. i would not recommend this place to anyone, not even tourists. instead i'd point them to "just sushi" on post and jones. a small place but the sushi is really good and the udon are thick, creamy, and way more flavorful. plus the two guys who run it are brother in-laws and extremely nice. you know it's good when the sushi chef tells you how as he became more experienced he understood his masters maxim that preparing sushi is an art that takes your entire being. also they'll always tell you what fish is good if you ask.

I've been going to Sanraku for the past two years. This restaurant has a quaint ambiance, and always serves up fresh sushi, and tempura. They also have a great value for a four course dinner, for under $30. Great value and quality japanese food, and a very friendly staff.
