When I stayed at the Red Victorian Bed & Breakfast, I stayed in the The Redwood Forest Room. My husband and I specifically requested this room because it had a private bathroom. When we got to the location, we were both disappointed. Our room was definitely run down, and a bit on the "old" side. The wallpaper in the room was peeling off and the carpets were dirty and stained. It needs to be refreshed and remodeled. The bathroom was TINY and not very clean. There was NO water pressure! It was hard to wash the shampoo out of my hair. The bed was so uncomfortable and very hard to sleep in. Everything in the entire place smells very musty. Bleh! This place is definitely an experience. A little too on the hippy side for my tastes. The only thing I enjoyed out of this trip was the shopping in downtown San Francisco.

This large bed and breakfast is also dubbed a "peace center" by its owners. The rooms and bathrooms are serene and decorated to create a hippie atmosphere. Most of the bedrooms don't have an adjoined bathroom, so you can use one of several communal bathrooms (don't worry - there are locks on the doors!). It's fun to explore the different rooms and bathrooms. Breakfast is continental, and the inkeepers try to steer the conversation to topics about peace, social responsibility, etc (that can be kind of annoying, though). Overall, a nice place to stay in San Fran.
