They care about your well being and not just filling your prescription. I love this place. OH .. it's a drug store like walgreens too only smaller. Are you a trans guy without health insurance or whose insurance does not cover testosterone prescriptions? After my Healthnet HMO denied my testosterone gel prescription and I learned that a one month supply out of pocket is $250.00, my doctor referred me to a compound pharmacist to formulate a topical testosterone cream, my preferred method.
I discovered Rexall and Sam, the longtime owner and Compound Pharmacist, took great care in ensuring my prescription was formulated precisely and was affordable. Upon understanding that I am transgender, he continued to be incredibly friendly and humbly offered personalized, expert, and quality advice. I can't imagine using another pharmacy for my testosterone.
Rexall is the only owner-run compounding pharmacy left in San Francisco, and what could be better than supporting a local, neighborhood-based small business?! Sam maintains a small-town-feel with strong values to strive to understand the pharmaceutical needs of everybody who walks through his door.

The thought of a colonoscopy--even just a screening one because of family history--can invoke fear in a person. So I really appreciated being referred to Dr. Sundberg (Internal Med/Gastroenterology) for this procedure. Dr. Sundberg was personable and professional. He explained exactly what the procedure entailed and reassured me that he would give me the most up-to-date medications to lessen the discomfort. Additionally, the pre-procedure fluids I had to take were 1/5 the quantity my poor father had to take per another doctor. Preparing for the procedure was then a breeze for me. The doctor's staff provided detailed steps for me to follow to ensure the easiest procedure, and they worked. It was nothing to fear at all! Afterwards, Dr. Sundberg personally discussed the results and explained carefully my responsibility for future screenings. Overall, he presented as a confident but caring professional.

Dr Wong is the greatest eye doc I ever meet. My eyes were in severe pain. I thought I might have watched too much t.v. or something. Dr Wong took his time explaining and teaching me how to treat my problem. He really CARE about my eye health. He did not make me feel stupid asking lots of questions. I really appreciate his honesty.
His office has lots of eyeglass selections and are reasonably priced. I did not have problem founding the one I liked. I did not have to wait very long for my eyeglasses and contacts because once they came in they call me right away.
Pros: willing to accommodate
Cons: talk a little too much but in a good way

Dr. Kurtbay is the best optometrist I have ever gone to, in a lifetime of going to eye doctors. Every time I have gone there (past 5 years), he has operated the equipment himself - though I understand that sometimes an assistant will do some of the tests for him (like the one where you press a button every time you see a light -- to test your peripheral vision). He also offers a retina scan so you do not have to have your eyes dilated any more. This keeps a record of your retina on the computer -- then when you go back year after year he compares this year's scan to the last year's scan to check for any changes. In this way, any problems (like macular degeneration or other eye diseases) can be caught early on.
Dr. Kurtbay has always taken the time to make my prescription was right; when I could not decide whether I saw better with one prescription level or another, I was allowed to take tester contacts with me so I could try them out for 2 weeks you before I decided. In sum, I highly recommend Dr. Kurtbay.

Dr. Vrouvas is great... thorough, friendly and he explains everything as he goes along so you know exactly what he's doing and why. He helped me find new contacts when my manufacturer decided to discontinue my lenses. He also encouraged me to buy some of the old lenses online which are still available though in dwindling supply. Some of the other optometrists I've had might have tried to sell me only new stuff, so I really appreciate him putting me (the patient) first!
