Abigal's was around the corner on Greenwich Street from our hotel so parking was not an issue. From the outside handpainted sign we knew this was going to be a cool place to eat. We weren't disappointed. It reminded me of Sarabeth's Kitchen in NYC, but more intimate and local feeling.
My son ordered the fromage baguette french toast which he said was the best he'd had and looked gorgeous drizzeled in syrup, topped with fresh berries. The look on his face grew more serene with each bite. When I saw steel cut oatmeal on the menu I had to have it, as it is the only oatmeal I eat and rarely do I see it in restaurants. This was a creation I am still dreaming about. It tasted like hot tapiocca, with plump blackberries and strawberries nestled on top. I actually salivate when I think of it and have tried to replicate that delicious bowl of oats, but haven't come close.
The service was prompt, friendly and just enough. No one is effusive; if you want something you can attract their attention, if you want to be left alone, they'll give you that too.
We left the beautiful looking pastries and breads to future patrons, as we were satisfied with what we ate, but oh how I wish I had some it now. Back in Conn. Abigals is now a wonderful, delicious memory. Thank You and continue your high standards of creative, fresh, scrumptious food.
Pros: local flavor, the best, freshest food.
Cons: Can't think of one

I hadn't been to Annabelle's in years and was really impressed by a recent visit. They've overhauled the interior and have achieved a nice balance of classic SF decor with a comfortable vibe. I really enjoyed the bruschetta and rib-eye steak. My date had crispy duck (incredible, I ate almost half of it,) and a nice salad with organic veggies. The staff was very welcoming and unobtrusive. I can understand why locals don't want to come down to this neighborhood, but if you do, Annabelle's is not to be missed!
Pros: Great food and service, classic SF atmosphere
Cons: Not my favorite part of town

My wife and I have eaten at Annie's on 3 different occasions and enjoyed the food each time. The last 2 times we were fortunate to have Mark as our server. My wife and Ihave discovered that Mark is the "gem" of Annie's Bistro. I was surprised to find out that he is not the owner brcause he seems to have everything running smoothly and obviously experienced and knowledgable about the food and wine. Mark makes dining out a truly memorable and funny experience. He made us both feel very comfortable and very important.

Whenver my wife and I need a break from the ordinary, and want to escape to a taste of Paris, then we go to this wonderful Bistro. The food is awesome, and so cheap! Typically cramped, with your neighbor almost taking part in your conversation they're so close :)
J'adore cette restaurant!!
Pros: Authentic traditional French cuisine; great wine; friendly staff
Cons: I want to say the crowdedness, but then, that's what a popluar Paris restaurant is like!

Went for brunch the day before Easter...bf had foie gras panini...I had the duck and scrambled eggs on country bread. Both were a-ma-zing.
Vinny (awesome waiter!) gave us great suggestions for drinks to go with and even treated us to a scoop of ice cream after we determined we were too full for dessert. He said "I know you're full, but you HAVE to try this."
Burnt sugar...UNBELIEVABLE. Really out of this world. Vinny was right...I would go back to SF just for that ice cream!
Great experience overall.
Pros: What's not to like?
Cons: Only beer and wine...but we survived

We so enjoy eating at Bistro Aix. My latest pet peeve about SF restaurants is the inconsistency in preparing the basics, but this is never a problem here. Our favorites are the hamburgers, roast chicken, and thin crust pizza. We live in the neighborhood and Steve always makes us feel welcome, even when the place is mobbed. It can be crowded and the chairs on the patio are not that comfortable, but I always leave smiling (in part because the prices are so reasonable).
