being new to the city, I was very excited to hit-up another restaurant in the Craft family, as Craft Steak in Las Vegas is arguably one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. My first experience at Wichcraft left a lot to be desired, but I am committed to trying every restaurant at least twice before I rule it out. For my first experience, I ordered the pulled-pork sandwich on recommendation from my cashier. She told me that if I liked spicy, I should order it.....not only must you like spicy, you must have an inpenetrable mouth to finish this sandwich. It was loaded with so many jalepeno's, I started to break a sweat just eating it. I was very suprised at this, due to the fact that I have heard Tom Colicchio get angry at the chefs on Top Chef for ruining the palate with overly spicy food....
Second experience was about three days ago, I ordered the chicken-salad sandwich. The chicken-salad sandwich is by far-my favorite sandwich in this world, so I was expecting a great experience. Again, I was disappointed. The sandwich was delivered to my table before I even sat down, making me think it was already prepared and just waiting for someone to order it. This was confirmed when I bit into it and the bread was stale, and what chicken was on the sandwich was tasteless. Not to mention, the restaurant does not have any air-conditioning, making for an uncomfortable experience on a "warmer" day here in this city.
So, Tom, maybe you should pack your knives and go.....Wichcraft San Francisco is an embarassment to the fantastic dining experience you have created in New York, Dallas, and Las Vegas.
Pros: location, ambience
Cons: food, warm water

The pure aesthetics of this hotspot, floor to ceiling glass lets the light pour in making the space warm and inviting. Besides the atmosphere the food is also a highlight. With a short but sweet menu, Wichcraft's simplistic appeal offers a variety of options to feed your appetite. The peanut butter cookies are my favorite and highly recommend you should check out this deliciously good restaurant.

I was very excited about having lunch at wichcraft....but soon disappointed after my meal arrived. My guest and I each ordered a sandwich to share. Our first, a breakfast sandwich....was really oily and tasted just average. Our second sandwich....the slow roasted pork, we actually sent back to the kitchen. The meat tasted like it was reheated in the microwave. The staff was helpful and gladly replaced our sandwich with another on the menu. Unfortunately, the chicken sandwich wasn't much of an improvement....neither of us finished it. My first visit was my last.
Pros: nice open space, good bread
Cons: not very tasty food

Not only are their sandwiches great, but so are their soups and deserts. The service is good and the prices are reasonable. And soon, they will deliver :) I highly recommend this place to anyone.

The meatloaf with bacon and cheddar was fantastic (thanks for taking one for the team heart). Unfortunately, it took three people to bag my sandwich. Of all the new lunch spots that opened with the new mall, wichcraft drew one of the oddest spots facing Mission street -- across from the Sony Metreon parking garage. Hopefully the location and the initial service kinks won't hurt its chances.

Being a fan of season one of Bravo's Top Chef, I looked forward to the opening of New York Chef Tom Colicchio's latest sandwich joint. Since Colicchio has sent many a Top Chef contestant packing for poor service, I felt assured that my dining experience would be superb. I was wrong! After spending 30-something dollars on a couple of sandwiches and one bowl of soup, my order took about 30 minutes to get to the table. My friends, who ordered after me, were done by the time it arrived. To top it off, the place ran out of silverware and bowls. Some of us had real bowls and utensils, while the rest got some sort of Dixie variety........one of my fellow diners even cut his tongue on the plastic (now that's classy)! The food itself was fine, but not worth the price or the wait. Hey Tom, pack your knives and go home. Next time, I'll go to Togos.
Pros: Food was good
Cons: Too expensive, crowded, pathetic service
