This is cheap food of a VERY bad quality. I used to go to this place 2 or 3 years ago and it was OK. But now this place became terrible! The special rolls were awful - the godzilla roll and red dragon salmon rolls were disgusting and not at all what I remembered it to be. I got a stomach upset / indigestion 2 times in a row. I really wanted to make a complain to Food Inspection Agency i just don't have time to deal with this. I don't recommend this place at all - it's better to pay a little bit more somewhere else but stay safe.
Pros: Thumbs down
Cons: Thumbs down

I used to go to this place when I was a kid and the sushi was terrific - especially the dragon roll or the caterpillar, or the rainbow. I recently moved back to the city after a sojourn on the east coast and was quite dissatified. The special rolls were awful - the cooked salmon was disgusting and not at all what I remembered it to be. The raw fish was mushy, not whole pieces like one would expect in a roll. The one upside is that its still cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for. I can see this place being okay if you're vegan and only order vegetable rolls.
Pros: cheap
Cons: most everything else

This place has decent Japanese food. Good food, cheap prices. If you can get a coupon that is often found in the coupon mailers, then it makes this place even better. The sushi is not bad for the price, but I prefer the regular food. I would recommend the chicken karaage. Also, parking and waiting is an issue on weekends.

I eat Japanese food - american style. I have had the best and the worst.... Kitaro is substance... not good, not spitting out bad - but substance. For those that wait for more than 1/2 hour, the restaurants on either side is where they should go. HOWEVER, if you're on a budget and you want to eat at Kitaro, go for the bento boxes, anything else is not worth it... 'cause again, with sushi fresh on the boats (corner) or cooked nicely at the other place I would go there. The Kitaro people are nice and hustle, but the tables are tight and the place can get noisy. Food to go is another way to get that substance as well... which is one way to avoid the wait.
Pros: Cooked items nice, bento box especially, nice people
Cons: Sushi is substance only... low level buy I think, parking is bad during rush dinner time

After I became a member, they sends me 15% off coupons all the time. Service: The waiters gets cranky sometimes if you don't take order fast. I guess it depends on their mood at the time, and who are you dining with. I have been there many times and the services are still not improving, but what is great about that is... you tip less! Food: its nice and cheap to get a bento...but the rice is not real Japanese rice. Sushi: not a great place to go to if you want to taste some fresh sashimi. I like their dimming spot lights, its really comforting while waiting for the food to come. It can get really loud sometimes due to dining of large groups around you...the waiters do not care if you are annoyed or not, they will only seat you where theres open table.
Pros: Cheap, Cozy Environment
Cons: Parking, Service

Wow, i didn't know that sushi can be so cheap and still be good. The food was great, especially at about $4 for uni. ok i think the price tag is what really shocked me. I'm used to spending about $100 for 2 at a sushi place, but here a table of 4 came under 80. not a date place, but defineately a hang out place.
Pros: cheap and good
Cons: too crowded

For the price you pay, sushi at Kitaro isn't that bad. Try the rock n roll and their bento box dinners. Parking is pretty difficult in this area as there are loads of restaurants, however, there's a metered parking lot across the street (but beware that can get packed too).
Pros: cheap food, decent sushi
Cons: parking, service is inconsistent, can get packed
