I love this store because there's tons of stuff you can listen to. They have lots of different types of genre for everybody. I especially love how you can scan a cd and listen to it just like that! I've never seen any other music store do that. The place to great when you have nothing to do.

Both of these science centers use activities and creative exhibits to explain science to kids in a fun way. I think the Exploratorium is the more successful - it tends to have more exhibits geared to teaching young children instead of just being fun for them to play with. It is larger, or at least seems that way, and in my dim childhood recollections has more demonstrations of the exhibits, where the Lawrence Hall of Science tends to rely on written information that kids are often not interested in perusing.

I don't think of SF as a comedy town. At least in the sense of lots of people going to see live comedy. Heck, the comedy is free on the streets everyday of the week. Just look out yer window or read about local politics and you'll get all the big laughs you need. However, if you're so dour that you can't find humor in everyday life and you need to spend hard earned entertainment dollars on deliberately forced laughs, the place to go is Cobb's, in SF's Cannery. This is where they bring in all the big names, even the guys that are on TV. I used to work near there and I met Emo Phillips when he was in town. Pretty cool, eh?

Great informative, interesting tour of history! The ferry ride there was so fun, I recommend sitting on the top deck (even though its freezing, its so worth it!) Go during the "night" tours, they are the most informative and complete tours. I love the audio tour with the actual inmate voices. Is a bit pricey, but who cares? It's really worth it!
Pros: all sorts of public transit can take you here, when you get off theres still hundreds of things to do!
Cons: parking....but dont drive thats dumb...take the cable car and walk!

This little tea garden is an amazing little garden. Please be sure to take atleast a half hour to walk the whole garden and make sure you have a full hour if you plan to stay and have tea. The garden itself is full of beautiful flowers and trees. They even have a little house (not sure what to call it ) that is Japanese in style. They also have a large bronze figure of budda.

I only live a couple block away. It's a cool bar with a few good happy hour deals. The atmosphere is what you think a "bar" should be (if only you could smoke inside). Be warned though, if you're just looking for a cool place to hang out and drink - this may or may not be for you. Since there is a band most every night, you will have to pay a cover to be there (regardless of how long you've already been there).

Located on Haight Street, this store is filled with lots of out-of-towners, however, the busy retail atmosphere is only front of house. As you are led to the rooms in the back it becomes apparent that these folks mean business. I have never seen a cleaner shop. Have been both pierced and tattooed here and being a bit of a germaphobe, I loved this place. I have gotten four large pieces done here by Brian and I love them. People have stopped me on the street to comment on the work that he did on my arms. Staff behind the counter can be a bit annoying with the "too cool for school" attitude, but hey, I cut them a break because they are young and they do have to deal with Haight Street foot traffic all day. Also, there is a gal that tattoos at the shop who did a tattoo on a friend of mine that was a pin-up girl based on my likeness. It really looks like me. Can't remember her name, but I think she is the only gal at this shop.
