When you shop at 826 Valencia, you're helping a great cause!
826 Valencia was created by a best-selling writer. He wanted to give something back to his Mission neighborhood when his book did well. So he used the funds to start writing programs for children.
Kids can go to 826 Valencia and get help with their homework, SAT prep, take classes in writing, learn how to apply to a college and much more. What funds the classes is a pirate store! ...and this pirate store is like no place you've ever seen!!
The interior of 826 Valencia is dark wood with large beams that resembles the interior of an old wooden ship. At first glance their appears to be very few items for sale, but first appearances can be deceiving! Soon it becomes apparent that the wooden walls are filled with doors, cupboards and drawers. There are even trap doors in the floor!
At 826 Valencia, you have to be a pirate and hunt for your treasures! That is what is so fun about it. You never know if a drawer is hiding a jeweled box or a dish full of eyeballs!
The neighborhood kids often get to play tricks on the customers. Hidden high in the beams of the ceiling is a box full of soft, fluffy mop heads. When an unsuspecting customer steps in just the right place... the kids pull a cord and the mops drop from the ceiling onto their unsuspecting victims! (they got me twice!!)
Visit 826 Valencia and plunder their pirate booty matey! ARRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

My wife and I went to quite a few places for tours before deciding on another place but this was one of our top 3 places that we were thinking of enrolling our child in. I like the fact that they had a lot of field trips and encouraged parents to participate in field trip chaperoning and school activites. The facility is clean and well lit and the kids all seemed happy and eager to learn. One plus is that they accepted kids that are 100% potty trained, so the pressure to fully potty train by 3 is avoided.

It is very hard to find portuguese classes in San Francisco. Abada offers this type of classes in a friendly atmosphere located in the Mission district. The classes are at night from 6:30pm to 8pm and they have different levels. There are about 2 sessions per semester of each levels. While you are in the center you can also enjoy different Brazilian activities, get in touch with the Brazilian world and practice Capoiera, even for adults. The portuguese class costs 200 dollars.

Abraham Lincoln High School is fast becoming one of the better public schools in San francisco. You now have to apply to the school and be invited to attended. Before, if you just lived in the district, you were automatically accepted. Now its very different which makes the education alot better. Its great to see a public school get better and more selective in its students

This university in San Francisco is great and very diverse. You can sutdy in such fields as fine art, archtiecture, animation, fashion illustration, photography, advertising, industrial design, and more.
This nationally accredited university has had some great people graduate from this school and go on to bigger and better things. Definitely a school to look into if you're into art or art is your passion.

Trust me i hev attended ADDA CLEVENGER since pre Kinder garden. 8 YEARS!.
True i have gotten frustrated at Adda, but doesn't every kid get frustrated every now and then. My parents didn't even LEAVE the country until their late teens. I was lucky enough to go to a school that took me all over England! this is truly an amazing school

My friends recommended this place for my toddler and I scheduled a tour of the place. It was a wonderful place and what I've been looking for in a preschool. Knowledgeable, friendly staff who seems to care deeply for the development of each child. The facility is clean and well lit. They offer a fully integrated course that is based on a child's current skills and not based on age. Field trips are quite numerous and are educational/fun type trips. I can't wait until my child starts preschool here. But remember that you will need to apply early to get on their wait list as it's a very popular preschool.

More
This teaching clinic has programs in acupuncture, herbs and massage. They have a clinic open to the public 6 days a week with evening hours. Treatments last about 1 hour, and you pay what you can (based on your income, or lack thereof). In addition to acupuncture and herbs, they also offer a massage clinic for $5! Can't beat it!
The interns are friendly, and the Licensed Acupuncturists there really seem to know their stuff. My neck and low back pain has dramatically improved in just a few short treatments. The acupuncture is comfortable and actually really makes me relaxed. No pain at all. And some interns will also give you some massage in the process. Nice! They might prescribe your herbs to take, too. I asked for mine in pill form so they are easy to take.
Oh, and they even offer last minute appointments for cheap (I thinik it was 10 or 20 dollars), and also offer discounts to students and Senior citizens for like 20 bucks.
Overall, it was a good experience with acupuncture. Everyone there seemed really nice, and it was good to see a practitioner who realy spent a lot of time with me and listened to what i had to say (unlike my HMO!)
I say, go check them out and you'll be sure to feel better for what ails ya. And free parking in their lot is just icing on the cake!
