Wow! This place is awesome! The interior design creates an atmosphere of being at a country house or at grandma's house. It's very warm, cozy, and inviting. It's also very sweet and romantic. It's a perfect place to take that special someone. The staff is wonderful. They're kind, friendly, and know the menu!
Now to the food. The restaurant give the usual bread and butter. You must try their walnut bread. It's good. I love their mushroom soup. It's very hearty and fulfilling. Watch out though. Don't stuff yourselves with the appetizers and bread because their dishes are pretty hefty and large. I had their Hunter's Stew, and it was wonderful. The plate was rather generous. I had to take most of it home. The chocolate mousse was delicious. I love their desserts. They are big enough for two so you and your honey can share! They are a little pricey, but where else can you find wonderful "home-made" tasting Polish food??? I think they're worth it. Give them a try! You just mind find me sitting in the corner having the mushroom soup!
Pros: Homestyle food. Generous portions. Great staff.

I came up to San Francisco from Mountain View on the train just to dine at this restaurant. We hiked across town from the Fourth and King terminus. When we arrived in front of this place, the doors were shuttered. The place was closed with no signage explaining the restaurant closed.
My six year-old daughter cried right in front of the place because she was looking forward to it from your reviews. Maybe I talked it up too much because we're Czech and there are very few places like this in the area. This isn't Chicago with it's vast array of Czech restaurants. Another one is gone.

My first introduction to Frankie's Bohemian was 6 years ago on a random date. We were looking for a nice place in Pacific Heights close to home for both of us. A random rumor of garlic peaked our interest; and it was highly recommended by a friend of his, so we decided to give it a try. Upon entry, I thought what kind of place is this? Red walls, blue ceiling? I had some concerns to day the least.
We were immediately seated and had two ice cold beers rushed over to our table by the sweetest waitress in the city, relieving some tension I may have had about the paint job. I looked skeptically at the menu, and was pleasantly surprised. Being a picky eater I wondered what I would choose at a restaurant with the word "bohemian" in the title. The ambiance of the room and people, mixed with the loud music, and the stir of other conversations was intoxicating; as well as the smells coming from the kitchen, and the enormous beer. What seemed like moments later our food arrived.
Wow, I had the Gilroy burger and a side of garlic fries, and a huge nice cold beer, my date had the same as to not ruin the end of the night kiss... But I must say that all in all it was amazing food and I had to take the majority of the very large portion home.
Now six years later I ask my boyfriend what's for dinner? He gives his typical response, "burgers?" I suggest Frankies Bohemian and forward him on the menu. As remembered the friendly staff was prompt and polite. The food amazing! And the overall experience was one worth remembering 6 years later and I will be back. Thanks for the great food and fun!
I highly recommend Frankies Bohemian Cafe for a fun, casual, date. Avoid the garlic if it is your first date, it is a bit strong; but if not, I highly recommend the Gilroy and the garlic fries.
Pros: The staff and the food!
Cons: A little intimidating upon entrance
