All the great things I have to say about Dr. Main (and his staff, for that matter) simply cannot be captured in 500 characters. He reminds me of what I assume old family docs we re like - warm, caring, incredibly intelligent, deeply committed to his patients (mom, baby and family) and healthcare overall. He is not an alarmist, is positive and yet realistic at the same time. The city of San Francisco is lucky to have the likes of Dr. Main in its midst. I give him my highest recommendation.

I found Dr. Main through my first pregnancy after being transfered from a horrific OB. I lost my first child, but at no fault of Dr. Main. He diagnosed me to have a blood clotting condition which caused my loss. He then agreed to take me on as a client for my second child. I have never had a doctor's office call me every other day to just make sure I was ok. I now have a healthy baby boy that I owe all to Dr Main and his staff. I doubt any other doctor would have cared so much that I would get my baby

Dr. Main is partly responsible for my wonderful baby girl being here today. He did a rescue cerclage for me at 23 weeks, and was so comforting. He visited me a lot when I was in hospital on bed rest. He was always gentle and reassuring. At 36 weeks, when he took out my cerclage, he hugged me in tears. After the birth, when I had postpartum blood pressure issues, he talked with me at our appointments for a half hour sometimes, just to help me with postpartum depression. I give him a heartfelt thumbs up!

I met Dr. Main at Mills Peninsula hospital while scheduled to receive an amniocentesis. I have been diagnosed with pre-term labor and on bed rest for the past two months. I was 36 weeks and four days when Dr. Main was rude and refused to follow my OBGYN's orders to perform the amnio. He stated that he would not do the amnio until I was 37 and a half weeks pregnant. He did not listen to me or to my symptoms that I have been experiencing, including contractions, lower back pain, a huge amount of pressure, dizziness, swelling, spotting, and nauseousness. He did not care that I was scheduled to receive this amnio for quite some time and was desperately counting the hours of the days.
When I finally arrived to my appointment I laid in bed for two hours while being hooked to the monitor just so that he can come in and accused me that I am tired of being pregnant! He directed his conversation at me while ignoring my husband. What an insult!!! He then told me that the baby had a chance of being in the NICU and that at 37 weeks pregnant the change decreased by a huge amount. I was only 3 days away from 37 weeks!! I cried so much because he did not listen to my concerns or the pain that I have been feeling. I felt as if he had wasted my time. I was very disappointed.

Dr. Main was my peri for my first child - I would highly recommend him. He seems to be up on all the cutting edge science, but is also a wonderful person to deal with. I agree with the reviewer above that Dr. Katz is very difficult and unpleasant. I would never see Dr. Katz again.

I love Dr. Main AND Dr. Katz.
Dr. Katz is cheifly responsible for my second child being born near full term instead of 12 weeks early like her brother. Dr. Katz wrote the book (literally) on the subject of saving your pregnancy, and I think his advice and care were superlative and wonderful.
Dr. Katz is in charge, but he knows what he's doing and truly cares about you and your baby. On the way to and from my appointments I was under strict orders to be lying down in the car, and when I would arrive at his office, his staff were under orders to make me comfortable and have seating arranged so I could lie down to wait. (I was on bedrest).
Truly we are thankful for all of Dr. Katz' help, and if we decide to have another baby, he'll be the first person we call.

He is caring and good. He goes up and beyond the call of duty especially when you need it. Unfortunately, his partner is arrogant and argumentative. Avoid Dr. Katz at all costs.
