We have been fans of Yank Sing since they were in Chinatown, 2 locations before the Rincon Center. We always come for the fresh ingredients, consistent high quality dim sum whenever we travel to San Francisco. It is very expensive but their attention to detail, from the food to service, is admirable.
Pros: Fresh ingredients, unusual dim sum dishes, great service, nice setting
Cons: Expensive

Good Chinese is hard to find. This place is excellent. And they deliver. They're friendly, delivery is fast, and they take the time to wrap all their containers so there's no leaks. Did I mention (so far) this is the best tasting, quality Chinese food in San Francisco?

The xiao long bao of course is the highlight at Shanghai Dumpling King (SDK), with good reason. I haven't tried enough places to rank SDK's preparation, but the dumplings were of the right consistency and contained sufficient soup inside. Make sure you ask for more sauce.
The Beijing Style Boiled Chives dumplings were what I expected -- not overwhelming in taste, but not too greasy.
The two nice surprises were two desserts: Long Life Peach (red bean paste in soft peach-shaped steamed buns) and Red Bean & Banana Rice dumplings (tubular desserts dusted in coconut and peanut sprinkles).
This is how inexpensive the place is: Immediately adjacent to us a table of six young men were having a dumpling-eating competition. The baskets of dumplings kept coming through the night, with each basket containing 10 dumplings. When we left, the leader was at six or seven baskets himself!
Pros: Cheap, Delicious Eats
Cons: Crowded Space, Minimal Decor

Very authentic Chinese spot in the mission district, and best of all, many vegetarian options. Dishes with tofu and meatless chicken. Also large array of top drawer cocktail specials at seven bucks a piece ! One of our family's absolute favorites.

I'm tired of cheap dim-sum where the food might be good but the restaurant is dirty. Chinese myself, I always wonder why do we do this when everyone loves our food? So, thumps up for City View: the good is authentic, no cut down on spices (I don't like fusion style, when I want ethnic food, I want it to be real), no slim down on the menu either, chicken feet, tripes, every thing. My most favorite is the Pekin duck, the skin is thin like paper and just the right crunchiness, the bun is fresh. The taro root fried is also another of my favorites. Every thing is perfect. I come back again and again and recommend to everyone I know.

This restaurant use to be a little pricey, now they have lower their prices, and amazing the food is still pretty good. They have lowered some of their Dim Sum dishes to 99 cents. Even there at dinner, they have now, a great valve set dinner menu. Starting for four at $48.00 with 8 different dishes. This is truly a real bargain. Now days with the tight economy, all of us are looking to keep budget low. I am glad that when everything is going higher, this restaurant?s price is going lower, without scarifying the food standard.. Great Job.
Pros: Value, free parking, Good food
Cons: Noicy, OK service

I've been going to this place for years and they recently remodel the restaurant and it looks great now. The food has always been the crowd pleaser. Dim sum on the weekends is always fun, but can be chaotic like any good dim sum place. I grew up in Hong Kong, lived in LA for 15 years, and this place is one of the best dim sum places I've been to and the prices are quite reasonable. Their dinner menu is good too, but I often order take-out. Their fried rice dishes are good as well as a peppered beef, broccoli, and onions dish. Parking can be quite difficult to find.
Pros: Dim sum, prices
Cons: Parking, noise (occasionally)
