We loved going to the Punch Line and always saw solid head liners. That was until our last visit a few months ago when we took a chance on a comic we'd never heard of, named, Amy Schumer. Neither our group nor the audience thought she was funny. We are all huge stand up fans and noticed that many of her jokes were either predictable or sounded similar to jokes we've heard before. Maybe she was a last minute fill-in or something like that, but it was a wasted evening and soured us enough that it will be a while before we return to the Punch Line.

Attended the New Year's Day Punchline Comedy Club Gameshow and was totally disgusted. There were about 6-7 comedians who performed throughout the evening interspersed with an audience contest about the show. Laughs were rare, except by the two women who'd imbibed before the show and fulfilled their two-drink minimum quickly upon being seated early for the show. Oh, and the woman who eventually won the contest was very amusing! You could see the "comedians" (and I use the word loosely) struggling with the unresponsive audience, making excuses and changing topics as the regimented gameshow script allowed. The overwhelming overuse of obscene sexually-related material didn't seem to deliver the shock-value laughs they were expecting. Of course, my opinion is always that it takes so much more talent to do a clean show than one laced with filthy language and sex jokes! And the racist remarks and innuendos! Ugh! These weren't very talented folks if our reaction was an indication, even though several had performed on late night talk shows and one even had his own cable comedy show. Thank God, I don't have cable! Anyway, won't make this mistake again and advise others to get their laughs elsewhere too.

My friend and I waited in line to see Dave Chappelle on a first come first served basis. The security staff guaranteed us that we would get in and in fact cut the line off after we got into it. We thought that all was good. 3.5 hours later and apparently their staff has miscalculated and 10-12 of us who were guaranteed entry are denied. To add insult to injury the staff was extremely rude and condescending after they had guaranteed us that we would get in. This club is a joke. I would never go back and would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Cons: Security Staff

My friend purchased 4 tickets over a week ago for last night's show. He provided them with his credit card to "purchase" the tickets. We show up for the 8pm show at 8:05pm only to be rudely informed by their staff that "we had to give your tickets away because you are late". They then proceeded to rudely ask us to "step aside" so they can seat a party of 5 who arrived after us. Of course we asked them why they didn't give away their seats and were informed that for groups of 5 or more the tickets are pre-purchased. If our tickets weren't pre-purchased then why are they asking for a credit card when you call in to buy them? This place is poorly run and the staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. I wouldn't go back on a bet. Cons: Rude staff, Unprofessional

Made famous by the sheer amount of publicizing that this club does, it would be a disgrace had it not lived up to its hype. Fortunately, Punch Line does meet and even surpass your expectations. The atmosphere is very classy, nice. The bar has a very good selection of almost anything you might want to enjoy while having a good laugh -- with prompt service, to boot. Now for the bread and butter: the perfomers. This club has local favorites routinely performing, so you will probably be hard pressed NOT to find someone entertaining. You will come out of this place with a stomachache from all of the laughing you will do. PROS: Great perfomers, nice bar, nice atmosphere CONS: Pricey drinks.

I have been here about 3 times because I really like the comedians. THe one thing I really appreciate is the ease of ordering tickets and how friendly and helpful they are on the phone. I found the staff here very pushy. I was there for an hour and still couldn't get my second drink. When I went up the bar to try to get a drink and I was told that I couldn't do that. The set-up of the club is nice and the comics can be very good but they need to upgrade the service.
