I like the music they play, but I don't find the station very adventurous. I grew up in Davis, where we had a local independent listener-supported classical music station in the low end of the dial. I got to hear all kinds of things at all hours of the day. KDFC is owned by one of those massive corporate radio chains, the Bonneville Corporation - the ones who like to slap together a format with some cute soundbites and no DJs and just leave it running all week. KDFC has announcers, but no particular sense of adventure - they're like the Top Forty classical station. They do, however, broadcast a wonderfully cheesy radio program about kids in the musical arts every Sunday morning at 9, which is worth getting up early to hear. Downside: the stations commercials run to questions like "Are you living a three-car lifestyle with a two-car garage?" (Actual commercial, paraphrased.) Answer: No. You idiots.

During early evenings, The Social Club serves upscale pub grub to casual 20- and 30-somethings. At night, tables are cleared for DJs or live musicians to take over. On popular nights (typically Fri-Sat), a back room with a second bar and dance floor opens up. Owners are in the process of revamping both the look and the pub grub menu -- check back for details.
my friends and i went to have dinner and drinks and 1751 Social Club and it was great. The food was terrific and the prices were so reasonable. If you have a chance to go there I recommend the Fresa martini and the lime mojito chicken wings. So Yummy! Also stay afer to listen to a great dj and dance with your friends!

The San Francisco Aquarium of the Bay is really an awesome sight. It is incredibly small, but still worth it. We enjoyed walking through the underwater tunnel and seeing all the native species of the bay. On the day we went, it was not crowded at all. There were only about 10 people in the tunnel with us. It was really neat because one of the workers told us to look for the octopus. Well, we went through once and did not find it. So, we circled back around and searched again. We found him this time…and then found another. The kids were so excited to find them and they really enjoyed it. As you exit, you get to go through a little area where you can pet stingrays and other fish. That was the best part for the kids. If your kids are “hands on”, I would recommend this on your trip to San Francisco.

Bethel and its members are such a comfort! Pastor Norm Smith and his wife Ruth are the most welcoming people and do practice what they preach! They walk the walk. From the moment I hesitantly walked in the door trying to find a community in San Francisco, I felt the warmth from everyone. I was invited to Bible studies, women's luncheons, to peruse the library, etc. Everyone went out of their way to ensure I knew what Bethel was about: a community of individuals developing their relationship with Jesus Christ. An added bonus: the singing is absolutely fabulous, and I love how everyone gets involved. With easy-to-read video displays, it's easy to do. Pastor Norm is a skilled preacher who brings the message right to you, with personal anecdotes and examples from the real world. What an oasis in this culturally challenging city!

The Mission used to be SF's thriving theater district. Then something happened (an ice age?) and most of the theaters got shuttered and/or knocked down. The spot of the Mission Safeway used to be a gorgeous theater. One of many… Brava is one of the classics that was closed up for a spell, but now it's remodeled, and presenting all sorts of art by woman (hence, why the official name is Brava For Woman in the Arts). Regardless of their insistence on discriminating against men, they're putting on good, local, political presentations here. It's a beautiful place to see a show.
