It's better to be seated in the front room, the smaller back room has a mildewy odor. The service is attentive, but strangely, each time the wait person would come by to fill our water glasses, he would fill the same glass of one person even though all the glasses could use a little more water. The tuna tartare was very good, especially the tangy cilantro-lime aioli served with it. There was plenty of tuna for the taro crisps served with it. The corn soup was good but sweeter than I expected. The grilled salmon was very good over grain and pea sprouts, didn't really like the pork tenderloin. Their polenta is thick and buttery, would recommend this if you like polenta. The prime rib was served with a lot of sauce, which made the fries soft/soggy after some time. I especially enjoyed the vanilla panna cotta. It was light, creamy and soft. The trio of sorbets was ok, I preferred the mango over the raspberry or lemon sorbets. The prix fixe dinner is the best buy, 3 courses for only $30. The prices on the website need to be updated, as my tuna tartare was more like $10.
Pros: Nice atmosphere, panna cotta is good, great place to dine before the opera/symphony
Cons: parking, need to be careful of the neighborhood a block away

I normally don't write reviews, but I had such a wonderful experience here, I just have to share.
I first heard of this place from a friend's recommendation, then I went and searched the net for reviews and all reviews were pointing to great. So I decided to book a reservation and ever since that dinner, I've haven't been able to stop thinking about how fabulous this restaurant was.
My boyfriend and I did the prix fixe wine dinner, which was $49 per person and you each get an appetizer, entree and dessert....BUT the best part is, they give you a list of about 10 wines that you can have glass after glass of. Our waitress would keep bringing us different glasses of wine before we finished the others. And they weren't cheap wines either, they tasted like they were about $10 or so bottles of wine. Oh, and their service was EXCELLENT as well. Food was very delicious, made perfectly.
You need to try this restaurant if you're in SF. Too bad I'm down in LA and I have yet to find a place like this...
Pros: Beyond great value for your money
Cons: None

Went for a romantic dinner with my boyfriend. Good wine selection, service was good and friendly, food was average. Nothing wow-ed me though. Tables were a little to close together, and my boyfriend couldn't get over how dirty the front windows looked! He wanted to wipe them down himself! Good meal, but not the romantic intimate dinner I invisioned.
Pros: Good service
Cons: Nothing amazing about it

I heard fabulous things about Indigo, so I picked it for my birthday dinner with 10 friends. Initially I was very impressed - they had set up two different tables, one up front near all the action and one in a private room in the back that was more personal. I picked the back room and apparently the back room waitstaff. The waitress was rude and ignored our group for most of the night; she only came back enough to take one drink order and *much* later our food order. She didn't even ask half my group whether they wanted drinks. She was impatient and inattentive throughout the evening and made rude comments as much as possible. The tip was included in the bill, so apparently she thought that gave her free reign to ignore us for the duration of our meal. Because the service was so shoddy, we wound up taking twice as long for dinner as we had expected and were late for another committment. The food was okay, though definitely small portions and a bit expensive for what was, generally, average quality. I had such a bad experience that I will never go back.
Pros: Wonderful managing staff
Cons: Everything else - food, waitstaff, speed of service

My boyfriend and I have season tickets to the Opera, but we're young and always looking for a good and fun place to have dinner (before the Opera and any ol' night). I found Indigo because of the Dine Out special, but we both ended up ordering off the menu. I thought the prices were really reasonable (Opera tickets are expensive enough!) and the food was great! It's the kind of restaurant I've been looking for since I moved back to San Francisco- good food, down to earth, reasonable- actual casual, fine dining! The wine list is really fun and has a great variety. My only complaint is that they took forever to fill our wine order and ended up being out of the wine I ordered. I've worked in restaurants though, and specifically have run a wine program, so while I'm critical of it, I also understand how it happens...
Overall, everything was good and I'm sure they'll be seeing A LOT more of us as the Opera season progresses!
Pros: food, location, prices
Cons: nothing big

This was my second time to Indigo. It's a solid restaurant with friendly service and a comfortable ambience. The food is good, but certainly not great. The menu is small; there are about 5 or six standard entrees - chicken, beef, pork, pasta, salmon. Nothing special. The wine list is extensive but a bit pricey. Jade Bar next door is a nice bonus for an after dinner drink.
Pros: Good Service; Nice Wine List
Cons: Average Food; Small Menu

SO this place is way fun and has some great food to accompany it. We did the ultimate wine dinner for 50 bucks a person and it was a great choice. All the wine u want and enough food to go around. Definitely a cool place, somewhat romantic. It was slow on wednesday night so my gf and I shared the place with just 8 other people. Nice cause we werent feeling rushed for the two hours we were there.

We've eaten at Indigo several times, and have always been overwhelmed by the delicious dishes. Their killer "ULTIMATE WINE DINNER" ($49, 3 courses + all the wine you can drink!) is San Fran's best food value - bar none!
We recently attended our first "event" at Indigo as well (the rosé dinner), and I have to say that we can't wait for the next one! Each course was perfectly paired to each different rosé, and each of the winery reps were very entertaining and very friendly and outgoing. The courses were great, and we especially loved the creamy polenta and rhubarb au jus with the tenderloin, and the pink grapefruit-basil butter with the mussels!
We had a great time (as always), and look forward to dining at Indigo again and again!
Pros: Great Food, Killer Value, Awesome Wines
Cons: None

My husband and I recently dined here for the first time and overall had a pleasant experience. We were able to get a parking spot right in front of the restaurant, and were seated right away. The restaurant was relatively crowded, and there was a large, rowdy group seated behind us. On a quieter night I would consider this to be a good date spot. The food was quite tasty, but we seemed to wait for an eternity before it arrived. Overall the service was good and I would eat there again.
Pros: good food/service, easy parking
Cons: noisy, long wait for meal
