I just purchased a new Prius from Toyota of SF, and was very happy with the process. I worked thru their web sales manager, who was based at the Geary location but happily brought my car to the Van Ness location to make picking it up easier for me. Everyone there was friendly and low pressure.

Yellow Cab is the best cab company in San Francisco. Always reliable - always offering quick service. I especially love that guy with a mustage that drove me once - he was really helpful at showing me the best restaurants and telling me about the city. He had sligh accent - either Meditarranean or maybe Russian - I highly recomend him as a cab driver - if only I remembered his name!

This place is great for routine maintenance work. These guys do a decent job in a quick and efficient manner. When I drop off the car in the morning, the work is usually done by mid-morning.
This place is great because:
1. They're honest and willing to tell you to go somewhere else for a generic replacment, especially if it's going to be cheaper (for example: tire change).
2. They'll wash your car for free (with water that won't leave spots) when you go to pick it up. Sometimes you do have to ask because they do forget.
3. Saturday appointments are readily available, as long as you show up early.
4. They'll give you a $25 credit to use towards cab fare or rental car. Just give them your receipts when you pick up your car, and they give you cash.

This place is very similar to a post office (except there is more location and a little bit more expensive). I do admit, I go here only because it is so convenient. Not only can I drop off all my mailing needs from FedEx to UPS etc. The people are really nice and there is a lot of other stuff here like beautiful hand made greeting cards and stickers galore! I like it because it's cozy and so convenient!

If you want to see San Francisco in its entirety, Red and White Cruise is one of the best boat tours in the Bay Area. They tour pass the Golden Gate bridge all the way to Alcatraz. They offer many tours throughout the day. Word of caution, if you plan to ride outside on deck on the boat, it can get really windy so bring a jacket. Tours are not really expensive but coupons are always helpful in getting a good discount.

Despite the runaround I experienced trying to get a couple of copies of keys made for my boss's BMW, I was very pleased with the reception I found at BMW of San Francisco. While there were some very stringent rules regarding who could order copies of keys etc. etc. I was happy to find that everyone in the service and parts department (especially the parts manager) was very considerate and helpful, and willing to go out of their way to assist me with my needs. In the end I was able to get the keys in an expedited fashion, and have them shipped to me (to avoid pick-up, which was very convienent). They also had a wonderful beverage and snack bar, which I was happy to help myself to while I waited for assistance. The only complaint I have arose from a misunderstanding about what purchasing copies of keys would entail, as I was not aware that the arm/disarm remote would not be included in the purchase, so please be aware of this if you go to copy keys!

You're still driving? Well, I guess everyone can't fix their lives up so that they're totally car free. Oh well. In that case, hopefully you're driving a happy little fuel-efficient number. A Honda hybrid or a Civic perhaps? My ex had a Civic and whenever it needed some checkin' or fixin', we brought it to SF Honda, which is a crazy huge operation on Van Ness. It's expensive. But the way I figure it, they're not ripping you off and they do a great job, so unless you know a mechanic you trust, you're probably saving money by not getting ripped off.
