Came in the other night and the place was kinda quiet, as is the norm these days I guess. Too bad, the prix fixe is only $29.95 and you will be well fed. Had the split pea soup with ham, what a great soup for a cold rainy night. Then I got the Hoffman farms fried chicken....probably the best chicken I ever had, and I like chicken. Then finished with the apple and huckleberry crisp, all in all very satisfied. The wine list is pretty extensive and reasonably priced, with lots to choose from by the glass. Service is very friendly, and towards the end of my dinner the place started filling up, and it seemed like they were regulars. I will probably become one, too.
Pros: good prices, good vibe
Cons: none

I had two custom necklaces designed and made. The price was not cheap, but certainly reasonable considering it was complete custom work.
it turned out beautifully and they did a GREAT job working with me to create exactly what I wanted.

I've been using this paper for over 20 years. No bull or articles, just plain good deals.
This paper www.sfadvertiser.com has by far the best deals for everything from auto parts & service to home & garden to cell phone deals and more..
I've gotten smog checks for only $15.95, auto repaiar for half what others wanted to charge. I even had my hardwood floors redone for only $1500. Building materials, cell phones and massage are way less in the Advertiser paper than anywhere else.
Last year I sold my car in one day, then I bought an $11,000 Lexus at an auto auction (Bizzarros) in the Advertiser paper and I only paid $5800.
I think this paper is the greatest. When so many people are out to take your money, it's nice to know you can always count on a great value in the Advertiser

I love this place! The reason I say it is better than a bridal salon is that the gowns are made right upstairs from her showroom. After you choose your gown - btw they are ALL on display , not in some back room - you have your dress custom made for you. I've been if for 2 fittings (I have one more) and the whole experience has been wonderful.
If you're going to spend a lot of money on a wedding dress you should get a couture experience with a patternmaker, seamstress and designer attending to you. Very cool. Everyone who has worked with me has be very nice and unpretentious. Some salons I visited on the gown search felt pushy and tried to use my inexperience at this (most people are!) to their advantage.
At Amy Kuschel it was so different. Amber helped me choose my gown. She was a great listener and had such helpful suggestions that I knew in the first 15 minutes that I would get my gown here. Still, she could tell that I was having a hard time deciding so she told me I should sleep on it. At a salon I'd been to the day before the salesperson all but locked me in the store to try and get me to buy. Anyway, I did come back and chose the most beautiful gown I'll probably ever own. The whole experience since then has only gotten better. On my most recent fitting there was a woman leaving with her gown. Everyone was hugging her, wishing her well, and she started to tear up as she left. This place is special.
Amy sells her gowns all over the country, but her heart is in San Francisco. Lucky for me!
Pros: The gowns, service and experience!
Cons: I'll only get to do it once. (hopefully ;) )

Aquarius is a small record store in the Mission with a great selection of hard to find records. They feature a large display of staff picks with extensive reviews, making it easy to see if you want to try something new. The store is clean and well lit, the staff is very personable and generally have a good sense of humor. The CDs are organized by music genre in a much more divisive way than most music stores. This store is charming and has loads of great music.
PROS: good atmosphere, nice staff, good selection
CONS: small

I think one of my mom's hobbies is that she collects Bed Bath and Beyond coupons. She piles them on me whenever I go home, even though I swear I don't need anything from there. But she doesn't understand at all: "how could you not need anything from Bed Bath and Beyond?" Ok, I admit, we've got a shower curtain, a dish rack, a spatula, maybe some other things. Have you ever gone upstairs and walked all the way back of the SF store? I mean all the way to the bedding (I think) department? There is so much crap in that place, it's unbelievable. Also, I dig the state-of-the-art shopping cart escalator machine. One day when no one's looking, I want to try to ride that thing…
