Jewish Bulletin of Northern California is where I look for news. It is one of the only newspapers I subscribe to (I get my news from other sources as well - like CNN.com) I love the selection of editorials in this newspaper and I like how it covers Israel-related news. I highly recomend Jewish Bulletin of Northern California to anyone interested in the Jewish news

First off, I have to admit, I've been a Speakeasy Mobster and shareholder since the late 1990s - so I am a little biased. As much as I love the current lineup of bottled beers: Big Daddy IPA, Prohibition Ale, Double Daddy Imperial IPA and the Untouchable Pale Ale (and the elusive Godfather Barleywine), it's the keg-only and the dearly departed brews that made this brewery tops in my book.
Keg Only:
The Bootlegger Black Lager holds up to the classic Sapporo Black and the archetype of the style: Kostritzer Schwartzbier. Malty and a little sweet, but also refreshing. There's a reason they're commonly called black pilsners.
The Shylock Maibock is also a great example of a German spring bock beer. Strong but balanced with a sweet malty character.
Even the Satchmo Stout, which should be bottled as there is a real lack of good local stouts, is a fantastic beer... nice and roasty and proof that stouts can aspire to be more than a Guinness.
However, the three best, most unique beers are ones that are unfortunately not being made any more.
White Lightning - their attempt at a berliner weisse, a sour beer that had undergone lactic fermentation. Even though it was a pain to produce and a bigger pain to clean out of the tanks and pipes, it was an amazing beer when stored and served properly (the trick was to make sure some live yeast made it into the glass like with a Belgian beer)
Common Beer - The San Francisco Common Beer was quite possibly the best beer produced on the west coast when it came to pairing with food, and it's a shame that restaurants all throughout the Bay Area didn't stock it. Maybe it was the name, or maybe the restaurant industry lacked the vision to pair a domestic beer with food the way they do now with Belgian brews. Either way, it is sorely missed.
Finally, the best of the bunch: Untouchable Lager - a perfect Maerzen beer, and possibly the best California-made lager I have ever had. This beer was fantastic, but unfortunately suffered in sales because the local market is biased towards ales.
The city is much better for having Speakeasy supplying its bars with fresh, local brew.

I love this place! The reason I say it is better than a bridal salon is that the gowns are made right upstairs from her showroom. After you choose your gown - btw they are ALL on display , not in some back room - you have your dress custom made for you. I've been if for 2 fittings (I have one more) and the whole experience has been wonderful.
If you're going to spend a lot of money on a wedding dress you should get a couture experience with a patternmaker, seamstress and designer attending to you. Very cool. Everyone who has worked with me has be very nice and unpretentious. Some salons I visited on the gown search felt pushy and tried to use my inexperience at this (most people are!) to their advantage.
At Amy Kuschel it was so different. Amber helped me choose my gown. She was a great listener and had such helpful suggestions that I knew in the first 15 minutes that I would get my gown here. Still, she could tell that I was having a hard time deciding so she told me I should sleep on it. At a salon I'd been to the day before the salesperson all but locked me in the store to try and get me to buy. Anyway, I did come back and chose the most beautiful gown I'll probably ever own. The whole experience since then has only gotten better. On my most recent fitting there was a woman leaving with her gown. Everyone was hugging her, wishing her well, and she started to tear up as she left. This place is special.
Amy sells her gowns all over the country, but her heart is in San Francisco. Lucky for me!
Pros: The gowns, service and experience!
Cons: I'll only get to do it once. (hopefully ;) )

at least check this place out before heading to AMOEBA... the selection maybe less extensive (though comprehensive is probably more accurate) - but the staff is just as much if not more knowledgeable than those EMO & INDIE wannabees toiling away in that old bowling alley (even though it's where I had my first date almost twenty years ago -omigod I'm old!) and you may just get a "classic" zinger / comment out of the manager (whose name I'll not reveal to protect the innocent)
