All I remember from my childhood of this place was a lot of green algae growing in tanks, everywhere! I went recently and really enjoyed the Living Philippine Coral Reef exhibit. "The Academy chose to feature a Philippine coral reef because the reef systems in the Philippines are among the most diverse in the world." Very serene and eerie. Cool!

The temporary location of the museum is not quite as nice as the original location was, but they still have their collection of fish and other smaller animals. The rotating exhibits have been interesting -- they started with an exhibit on ants and recently had an exhibit on different types of chocolate! The new location is convenient but we can't wait for them to move back into their permanent location at Golden Gate Park.

The California Academy of Sciences is the best place for the old and young to really experience the wonders of nature. When it was still opened in Golden Gate Park, there were tons of areas where one could just touch and grab sea cucumbers or star fish. The new facility has just as much interesting stuff, including a huge aquarium with their own coral reef system. They have interesting events all day long...including a session where they show how they feed their python. Really cool place for everyone to enjoy

The Steinhart Aquarium is located within the California Academy of Sciences. It is a fabulous place to visit, for both children and adults. Highlights of the aquarium are the crocodile and alligator pits (yes they are real!!), the fish roundabout which is a circular glass aquarium where visitors are in the center with the fish swimming around them and the dolphin pool, where the dolphins can be viewed from underneath the water. The roundabout is truly magical. You feel like Arial the Little Mermaid with all the fish swimming around you! The dolphin pool is neat because you can see the dolphins swimming and occasionally leaping out of the water! Sometimes they will even come up to the glass to gaze back at the people. There are an amazing variety of fish and sea creatures in the aquarium tanks. Some even glow in the dark!

I haven't been to the Howard Street museum, but I loved when the Academy of Sciences was in Golden Gate Park! It's one of my favorite places to visit in San Francisco. There are so many unique exhibits there and so much to learn. My favorites were the aquarium and the space exhibit. Don't miss this great museum! It's fun for all ages!

This is a nice sciences museum. But I do like the old one better. I liked the building it was in and the location was better at the Golden Gate park because I was able to find free parking there. This one in San Francisco forces you to park your car in one of those parking garages that charge you an arm and a leg for just one hour.

If you're looking for an educational, fun place for the whole family, you need to see the California Academy of Sciences!! Located now in downtown San Francisco (no longer in Golden Gate park, darn!), this is one fabulous collection of critters and information!!! Children love looking at the different varieties of animals, and grown ups love the amount of education that is provided!! Neat stuff in the gift shops. You can' help but love it here!!

There are so many different types of exhibits here that everyone's bound to find something they like. My personal favorites were always the penguins and alligators, but another fun thing is the earthquake simulator. Admission is free on the first Wednesday of each month, but its really crowded, so I'd rather just pay the $8.50 to get in on a day when there are less people.

Even though I had a hard time finding this place, because they moved, I was not disappointed when I got there. The place was fancier than what it used to be, even though it was smaller. The exhibits were very enticing and interesting. I also went on a day when the admission was free, and I had a great time.
