Came in the other night and the place was kinda quiet, as is the norm these days I guess. Too bad, the prix fixe is only $29.95 and you will be well fed. Had the split pea soup with ham, what a great soup for a cold rainy night. Then I got the Hoffman farms fried chicken....probably the best chicken I ever had, and I like chicken. Then finished with the apple and huckleberry crisp, all in all very satisfied. The wine list is pretty extensive and reasonably priced, with lots to choose from by the glass. Service is very friendly, and towards the end of my dinner the place started filling up, and it seemed like they were regulars. I will probably become one, too.
Pros: good prices, good vibe
Cons: none

I live out of state, and wanted to send a case of wine to a friend who lives in SF. I found this store online and gave them a call. Spoke with manager, Bo Thompson, who went above and beyond to help me. I had a few unusual requests, and he made sure every aspect of my gift was just as I had planned. He suggested some great wines, worked within my budget, and kept me informed of the status of my order throughout the transaction with frequent emails. The wine was delivered promptly, and I'm happy to report it was very well received. I would highly recommend this store for it's outstanding service. I wish all retailers were as easy to deal with as Bo and his crew.

I was so delighted to discover this, a little piece of Oregon, on Union Street! I had no idea Rogue had a place in San Fran. The beer they serve--and brew--here is beyond excellent and there's something for every taste, ranging from a light golden ale, to the hoppier pales, to the heavier bodied ambers, to the thick stouts. You can get beer to go in growlers or regular 12-oz bottles. They have a full menu, typical pub stuff, and it's decent. They enforce their no cell-phone policy pretty seriously. It gets pretty crowded on the weekends, but I think it's worth the wait to fill up on true northwestern beer.

This is a hidden gem in Ghirardelli Square. I came here with my mom and it was fun. Inexpensive with tasting 7 different wines for $10.00. I really enjoyed the wine and the staff were very educational.

I recently spoke with the Partners of Tobacco Road Cellars about their new hand crafted wines...Sonoma Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara Syrah and ToKalon Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon & hand the opportunity to taste the Syrah at their San Francisco downtown winery. Fabulous! Their custom wood crates will also make great wine corporate gifts. Jason Earnest and Dusty Field's track record in their business make me believe Tobacco Road Cellars will be a world class wine company for years to come.
Pros: Limited Production High Quality

We went for a tour and my friends ended up making their own wine! This community winery is housed in a large cement warehouse and it is sparkling clean. The staff is friendly and well versed in all things wine- and not at all condescending or snooty as some know-it-all wine types can be.
We were shown the impressive facilitiy and then were allowed to do some barrel tasting so as to make a better choice when selecting the grapes we'd use for our wine.
The winemaking process is as hands on as you want it to be, they even feature webcams so you can always keep an eye on your wines!

24th St Plumpjack for a purchase w/my son. I saw a crate of $4.99 imprtd red. I politely inquired if it was any good. The salesman (glasses, bad print shirts) barked,"no it's crap! we only sell cheap crap wine to customers"! I was horrified. He then stared yelling very loudly, "Don't touch the wine bottles! Don't touch the wine bottles!" at my son who was running his fingertips over the tops of the secure bottles that were on their sides. Not an emergency? I asked my son to stop and he did. I should have given the salesman a talking to but he scared me! (I was the only customers) and did not want to in front of my son. I bought the $4.99 wine and ran out of there. My son asked me, "why is that man so mean"? Not sure how to explain the word ***hole to a toddler?
Cons: mean service
