During early evenings, The Social Club serves upscale pub grub to casual 20- and 30-somethings. At night, tables are cleared for DJs or live musicians to take over. On popular nights (typically Fri-Sat), a back room with a second bar and dance floor opens up. Owners are in the process of revamping both the look and the pub grub menu -- check back for details.
my friends and i went to have dinner and drinks and 1751 Social Club and it was great. The food was terrific and the prices were so reasonable. If you have a chance to go there I recommend the Fresa martini and the lime mojito chicken wings. So Yummy! Also stay afer to listen to a great dj and dance with your friends!

I spent a summer living three doors down from the 500 Club (near the intersection of 17th and Guerrero), so I got to know it pretty well...
If you work your way down the checklist of dive bar requirements, this joint pretty much nails it: hip-but-still-slightly-seedy neighborhood (check); killer retro neon signage (check); fake-wood-panel walls and sodden carpet of indeterminate color (check); salty, 'whaddya-want (i could give a shit)' service (check); surprisingly well-stocked jukebox (check); cozy, ripped-vinyl booths (check); and finally, the obligatory, extremely nasty, never-been-cleaned restrooms (double check).
If you're anywhere near the Mission and need to wet your whistle without putting up with a lot of yuppie crap, run don't walk to the 500 Club - it's your kinda place.

This is one of my favorite clubs in the city. Tiny place bathed in low, red light that serves a wide selection of fine beers and creative soju cocktails. But the main thing here is the eclectic music. Gypsy jazz on Wednesdays. Smokin' jazz jam session after that. The best place to see music on Sunday nights with crazy lineups of burlesque, roots, folk, world, and no-genre-everything-else on Sunday nights. Not a good place if you're the kind of person who can be convinced to skip work on a Monday…

Whether you're waiting for that pesky bail bond to come through or you're just on a break from jury duty, Annie's is your best courthouse-area guzzlery. A mere few steps away from the blindfolded lady with the scales, Annie's presides over Boardman Place, dispensing cocktails like justice, swank in a wood-grain, windowless, mock-macabre way (dead flowers and fake cobwebs abound!), and don't forget to check out the eggplant-colored room upstairs, where there's rarely a wait for the aubergine-felt billiard table.

I could be getting this story a little mixed up, but from what I understand, the guy who owns the Argus is a great bass player. He sits in with a lot of the bands he books, and I wonder if this doesn't have some influence on the generally high-qual music that is performed on this tiny stage. The Argus is a tiny little place with a peacock feather on the sign outside for those of you who might be looking for something that actually said Argus to find the place. Blue grass, roots, country, rock, jazz are just some of the genres that make up a typical Argus week. Even when there isn't music, this is generally a friendly neighborhood place to hang out and get sauced.

This is a great place to take anyone who is only visiting san Francisco once. The drag queen waitresses put on a great show on the bar, the place is an intimate interactive show. If you have someone really conservative in the group, take them here to watch them squirm! The place really is for any adult audience, and the food is spectacular. Truly a san Francisco must-do. They also do great bachelorette parties and birthday parties!

If all-night underground raves are your thing, don't bother.
If, on the other hand, you appreciate friendly, (mostly) intelligent, conversation in a warm and cozy setting (yes, there's a fireplace), this hidden gem is for you.
The staff are walking encyclopedias on everything from baseball to, uh, barley, and will cherfully serve up anything from a great Guinness to what I hear is a stellar Bloody Mary.
The JB simply is a must-visit.
