The only thing that I do not like about this store is that you have to search for parking. Otherwise, this is one of teh best stores in the city. The store is a little cramped but they have so many unique items all of teh place. There is always something fun to explore in this store. Most of their figurines are adorable. And tehy have the best kits. Their prices can be a bit high for some items, but if you search, you can always find something to fit your budget. Check it out if you haven't been there.

I have shopped at The Other Shop many times when you're just looking for "that random thing." You never know exactly what you'll find there because the inventory is always changing. I've found, among other things: a vintage toaster from the 40's, an art deco chair, and some of the coolest art I've ever seen.

This is a great comic store with a reasonable stock. The comics are well displayed and maintained. The owner is very pleasant and will remember your name and comic tastes and keep comics on hold for you if he thinks they might interest you.

This store has a lot of really neat one of a kind hard to find vintage clothes, purses, and jewelry. They have some nice designer stuff that is a bit more expensive- and then they also have the traditional stuff that most vintage stores have- the neat sixties and seventies pants and shirts and stuff. Over all, it is really fun to go and look and browse around and maybe even find some good bargains and things. The prices widely vary depending on how nice of an item you want to buy and whether you want designer stuff or not.

I went to this store which has been a West Portal staple for years not expecting to buy anything. Inside where beautful antique vases, couches, lamps and so forth. I asked the woman about my mom's couch was was torn up by her cat to see how much it would cost to upholster it. She automatically showed me hundreds of different samples I could use, including color options and fabrics. Also in the store were pashmina scarves. I ended up buying two scarves and got a ton of great input from her about my mom's couch! I will be going back soon for more advice!

Aunt Bills Antique has some amazing antiques and collectables to look through. The place is an adventure itself. There are so many items that you will find that you cannot find anywhere else. Some pieces are very expensive; however, this is a good place for those who like to collect things. Since this shop is located in a busy street, it can be hard to find a parking space.

This is one of my two favorite SF bead shops. It's the motherlode when it come to a wide variety of findings, seed beads, tools, accessories and other goodies at wholesale prices. The selection of semi-precious stones isn't as good as some other places, but what it does have is amazing. The groundfloor has all the aforementioned beads and beading stuff and the upstairs has one of the best selections of unique and interesting czech glass beads I've ever seen under one roof (and the prices are amazing!)

Kuraya-Japanese antiques from the 18th Century. Nice antique store, with a variety of stuff, lots of lovely dressers that line up the wall and general home furnishing, that is prominently displayed. This little shop feels very comforting and very mellow. The people here are really nice, the lady is always ready to answer questions and they dont' over crowd you if you just want to come in and take a look. They have little miniature stuff displayed in their front window that attracts and sustain your attention. A whole lot of culture in this shop.
