I don't live far from Chenery Park so its become a "neighborhood" restaurant for me. I've had just about everything on the menu and like any other place you visit on numerous occasions, some times its great; other times its good; but never has the food been bad or awful. I can't say the same for the service - that has varied from great to awful. The food? Wonderful. Favorite appetizer: fontina ravioli with wild mushroom sauce. None of the entrees have been great/outstanding. Most are just plain good! Especially the lamb sirloin when its not overcooked.
I think the place is overpriced. Since I eat there alone, I'm surprised when my bill approaches $40 (and that includes the tip). Oh and avoid Tuesday nights if you don't like kids!

Ingredients of each dish are top notch and super fresh. Servings just a little too big. Wine selection could improve. Chipotle corn chowder very refined, which is the polar opposite of what I expect in a corn chowder. The halibut was beautifully prepared, but its bed of pasta was slightly overcooked. Cheese course did not need such a big handful of greens; just the toast and figs would have been perfect. Service was friendly but we were seated right next to the water station even with a reservation. Nitpicky, yes, but in consideration of a $200 bill for three diners. I definitely think another dollar sign should be added next to the restaurant's name!
Pros: Ingredients, Imaginative, Location

Nice little place tucked in the Glen Park area. The host was pleasant. Waiter was nice and capably answered our questions about the menu. Mac n cheese was fair. Nothing that jumps out at you though. Had the Monday "Fried Chicken and Fixins" which was fine, but I probably won't order it again. Lamb sirloin was prepared rare - the way I asked - and it was delicious. Tha au gratin potatoes were good as well. Warm chocolate cake and the cafe au lait creme brulee were just so so - and the coffee was bad. Even with the hit and miss food, I had a pleasant meal and would come back.
Pros: lamb sirloin, service, ambience

I was pleasantly surprised by my recent dining experience at Chenery Park. There was a great variety for every palate on both the wine list and the menu. I would strongly recommend going on Mondays to sample the Fried Chicken special-- which is wonderful "comfort" food and the sand dabs were very satisfying. Pass on the duck confit fusili as the pieces don't fit quite right. Service was great and the staff was knowledgeable.
Pros: great variety, great service, great value
Cons: parking

Tucked away in remote Glen Park, Chenery Park bridges the gap between neighborhood eatery and upscale, American bistro. Decorated in soothing sage tones with vibrant art, the restaurant makes the most of its space, coupling a ground floor dining room, mezzanine, and loft. The value-priced menu features appetizers including Corn-Chipotle Chowder, Mussels with Ruille, and Thomas Keller-esque Baked Macaroni and Cheese. The entrees range from Local Sand Dabs and Grilled Lamb with Gratin Potatoes to Fusilli with Wild Mushrooms and Ravioli with Porcini. While limited in scope, the well-priced wine list offers selections from California and beyond, and the corkage policy is reasonable. Personable, knowledgeable, and fun servers make the evening enjoyable, while the hostess makes you feel as if Glen Park is your neighborhood. A comparative bargain for City restaurants (dinner for 2 with wine $110), Chenery Park will make you want to make the trek to Glen Park.
Pros: Innovative dishes, Modern decor, Friendly staff
Cons: Lack of parking

Living in upper Noe, I've been wanting to go for a long time to Chenery Park, but for some reason, just never made it. I was looking forward to this place, but after waiting 15 minutes with a reservation for our table, I started to wonder. When our entree's were VERY late, I wondered even more. When my wifes food almost ended up in her lap due to the diner like delivery style of the serve, I stopped wondering. The service was poor, the wine list not well thought out the food OK and it was over priced for what we got. Two people with tip $135 can be OK for a nice meal. Lets face it, when at the end of all this the waiter even forgets your PORT, well then you have a problem. I won't go back unfortunatel.
Pros: nice atmosphere, nice host
Cons: poor service, long wait times, OK food

Chenery Park is up there and very yummy. When I want comfort food I get their salmon dish with tatsoi- it is OUTSTANDING. I love salmon and have had it all over the city in top restaurants but their preparation is still my favorite! Yes, some of their entrees are mediocre (yet tasty) but others are wonderful and worth coming back for! One time, they were able to get a fresh harvest of peaches so they put a dessert special on the menu and it was FANTASTIC. We also enjoyed a special dinner there with a winemaker, each dish paired with wines. They are always packed so prepare for a leisurely dinenr. Easy to get to by BART!
