Kind of lost in the incredible chocolate delights served at Chuao is their equally incredible desserts (made at their Encinitas location) by their in house dessert chef Tricia who came over from A.R. Valentine at The Lodge at Torrey Pines. The result is restaurant quality desserts infused with the innovative flavors of Chuao chocolates and you get a great combination of both worlds. I like to take the desserts outside in the always hoping Lumberyard courtyard.

Chuao offers organic chocolates made in-house and in very limited quantities. If you're looking to order more than a dozen, call ahead to make sure you get exactly what you need. They offer your traditional fillings, but I'd recommend trying the herb-infused chocolates. This combination of chocolate and herbs has gotten very popular and chuao is particularly innovative in their combinations of things like basil and chipotle with dark chocolate.

This upscale chocolate shop offers a little something, no matter what your taste in chocolate is. They have an array of chocolate covered fruits and nuts and also candy bars with unique combinations. They make truffles and bonbons and even hot chocolate. Everything I've tried tastes amazing. It is high quality chocolate, expensive, but well worth it.

Chuao Chocolatier is a recent addition to the UTC mall. While I was rather upset to see the Game Keeper go, I could not hold grudges when I walked into the new shop. I highly recommend dropping in for some chocolate treats! Their chocolates are rather expensive at around two dollars a piece, but they do let you choose a free sample first. Gift boxes are offered at a discount, and the coffee and hot chocolate are also the highest quality.

They have a tasty array of bite-sized chocolates ranging from pralines and butter creams to lemon and passionfruit to goat cheese – don’t be afraid to sample. The desserts look almost too good to eat. They also sell hot chocolate and mixes.
