Actually, their beef noodle soups are waaaaay better than their dumplings. Suprisingly their dumplings arent that special. It tastes simply homemade, so if your homesick, i guess it would be nice to have. But as for the beef noodle soup, if you ever want a bowl of it, you need to get there before 7 pm or else its gone!
Also, the wait is long. They have an exceptionally small room for the amount of people that want to eat there.

I will say the feature dumplings are good. However, everything else is pretty poor. Their noodle soups especially are bad. The soup is tasteless, the noodles hard.
It isn't that cheap, the place is small, and the service isn't that great.
If you are really desperate for chinese food, I guess you could come here. But I personally would not go, especially since there are so many other better chinese restaurants in the vicinity.

I have always been skeptical of restaurants advertising traditional Chinese food in San Diego, but Dumpling Inn was a great surprise. With tasty soups, noodles, and fried rice to tempt you on the menu, it would be worth visiting even without my favourite thing to order there. They make the best steamed dumplings I have ever had outside Vancouver and Hong Kong. There is true authenticity!

Dumpling Inn is worth the wait (and there usually is one). A tiny restaurant located in the Jasmine/Korean Market Center off Convoy Street, they serve tasty dumplings and other Chinese fare. They also sell frozen dumplings, so you can satisfy your dumpling craze from the comforts of your own home.

For those looking to find an "undiscovered" good Chinese restaurant, this might be it. The restaurant is in a small plaza on Convoy Street and not very visible from the street, so this is probably not a restaurant you would find just from driving down the street. The restaurant itself is not that big, but the food is good, so the place always seems to be full. Also, I find it kind of annoying that they close relative early (8:30pm). They serve more than just dumplings. I would recommend the beef noodles as it's pretty good.
