Don't let the location of this place fool you. Located in the nook of a strip mall may not sound too appetizing but Sushi Ota is one of the best Japanese restaurants I have ever been to for fresh ample cuts of sashimi and sushi. The place is considered a good price for high quality sushi...not a good deal for fish. You can't expect to get fresh raw fish for a good deal...those restaurants offering deals for sushi that are suspiciously too low are the ones I tend to avoid. The atmosphere is clean and casual and sports a large sushi bar that surrounds the chefs. Omakase is the deal breaker here and I think it is a great price for what you get. If usually it is too pricey for you, then check out the lunch specials at noon. On the weekends, you best make reservations for dinner because the place is usually jammed packed.
HIghly recommended establishment.

This is the place for sushi in San Diego. Not only is it the place to be for sushi but it is probably the best restaurant in the city. If you can speak japanese at all be sure to use it and order anything you desire, even if it is not on the menu. They will definitely accomodate. The atmosphere is casual. The cost is not very expensive.

If you go.. look around, the place is pretty much filled with Japanese families and business man. This pretty much shows how authenitic this place is.
It's semi-pricy.. but the quality is great. reservations rquired, I would not even go without one.
They post their specials on the wall so don't miss it.
