My in-laws took us out to this restaurant in East Lake for my daughters graduation. The overall experience was disappointing but the restaurant has some good points,

On a scale of 5. Service 4 Price 3 Ambiance 3 Food 4 I rather go to IHOP, but than again IHOP prices are getting unbearable for breakfast. more

Good eggs 1/16/2006

The Broken Yolk Cafe in Pacific Beach is one of the best places to get breakfast. The only drawbacks is that there is always a long wait, no matter when you go and it's always packed and very noisy in the restaurant. If you can get past all that, the food is wonderful. They serve eggs just about any way you might like them. I recommend trying an omelette. Also, this restaurant closes at 3PM. more

Loud Eggs 10/17/2005

There is always a wait here. Once you get inside, it's always loud. The reason I put up with those two things and keep going back is that they have stuff on the menu like "Beef Stroganoff Omelet" which comes to your table and on plates that looks like the ones Fred Flintstone used to get that tipped his car over. Lots of food, many unique and unusual choices of omelets, and hey, it's a short jaunt to the beach when you're finished to walk it off. more

breakfast is served! 8/29/2005

This place is best known for it's breakfast, and that's because it is such a great deal for such a great price, and you do not have to sacrifice taste. Of course, I'm sure others really like it because they get to compete in that egg-eating contest and have a chance at getting their name on the wall, but i've never done that and I don't really think I ever will. But, alas, i still reccomend this yummy diner. It's the best breakfast in town! more

Great food, great service! 8/20/2005

If you are looking for an incredible breakfast, great service and a friendly atmosphere, then The Broken Yolk is the place for you! Located in Pacific Beach with lots of parking behind the restaurant, this place has it all! They offer everything from a dozen egg omelet to a huge fruit bowl to biscuits and gravy with everything in between. I have been several times and have loved every meal I have ever had there. They even have a card that you get stamped for each meal you purchase and after 10, you one free. more

Love the omlettes 8/18/2005

The Broken Yolk is always busy and it's not surprise. They serve an amazing breakfast, particularly the omelets. For about $8 you get a huge omelets customized to your tastes and your choice of two sides. You will definitely leave full. Make sure to stop by early on the weekends as tables fill up quickly! more

Happenin' Place 8/14/2005

The Broken Yolk is always packed-no matter if you come on a Sunday morning or Tuesday morning. The Broken Yolk is probably best known for their omelets and rightfully so. You can make your own, or pick from one of theirs. The pancakes and waffles are decent, but not the best I've had. The staff is friendly despite being busy. If you try it out, make sure you're not in too big of a hurry! more

Breaking the Fast 7/12/2005

Wonder why when you drive Garnet St. early Saturday and Sunday morning, there is a line out the door at the Broken Yolk Cafe? Maybe its a sign... This place is awesome! They offer a HUGE variety of breakfast plates, including their famous omlets! Curious to see how many varieties of omlets are available? Take a look on their egg-shaped menus! You can even dine upstairs on the patio that overlooks Garnet Street. With so many choices, no one can go wrong at this local breakfast joint. more
