My husband and I will drive the 20 minutes to Ocean Beach when we feel like a good, solid hamburger and fries. Rocky's, Fuddrucker's, not even In-N-Out can hold a candle to Hodad's! I love the decor: funny liscence plates all over the walls, huge surfboards and bikes suspended from the ceiling, stickers plastered everywhere...the music is loud (usually punk or rock), the service is fast and edgy, and the vibe is super beachy relaxed. It's fun to sit at the sidewalk-front bar area and watch the crazy Ocean Beach hippies walk by. Did you know a Hodad is the old school term for a pouser surfer? Haha! We love Hodad's!

Hodad's is funky and has the best darn burgers in Ocean Beach, or the City of San Diego for that matter. The interior of the restaurant is also fun, with an international array of license plate frames tacked up all over the walls. For a special date, site in the old VW and share a shake. The staff is always fun and friendly, and usually a little bit edgy. Do you self a favor and go to Hodad's NOW!

These burgers are sooo huge and soo delicious! It sure beats any other fast food burger joint, and the restaurant itself just screams beach-town! It's a pretty cool place to eat, and it's just so good! Obviously i mentioned the burgers are huge, but the side dishes are also really large, too! The onion rings and fries are great side dishes. I definitely recommend this place!

Anyplace whose slogan is "No shirt, no shoes, no problem." is my kind of place. You can swim at the beach, dry off a little and feel right at home in Hodads in your bathing suit and towel, sans footwear. Lots of upscale places are charging way more money for burgers, but at Hodad's you can get a giant homemade burger with all the toppings, fries and a drink for 5 bucks. I am not one of those chicks who only eats salads, I actually eat, but I can never finish my meal here. Oh wait, that's because I always start with a giant chocolate shake which is in one of those icy metal soda fountain cups and has big scoops of ice cream in it, in fact, it's a meal in itself. If you're in Ocean Beach and you don't eat here, you've missed a big part of the experience.

This is the best burger joint on the waterfront! They basically just serve burgers and fries, but they are awesome. Hodad's also serves super thick milkshakes. The service is always great, but sometimes there will be a short wait if you want to eat inside. The restaurant is rather small but extremely popular. The atmosphere is very laid-back. The walls are plastered with license plates and there's even a VW bus converted into a booth for eating!

Hodad's Burgers is directly across the street from The Black on Newport Avenue in Ocean Beach. Second only to Rocky's in pacific Beach, Hodad's has an amazing burger. Try the cheeseburger basket. It comes with fries and a drink. These guys are also good at ice cream shakes and malts. The real kind of malts that come with the extra portion. You need a spoon to eat them because they are too thick for a straw. Covered with old license plates, the walls are part of the appeal. Or you can sit inside an old VW bus and eat. Must try this place!

Want to eat in a loud place thats a bit crowded and all the servers are taking a break from surfing? Sure ya do! Hodad's is perfect for a kick back atmosphere to eat your burgers (and veggie burgers in!). They have huge steak fries that are sure to fill ya right up! Sit in the front of a VW Bus and dine or sit on the barstools that look out onto the ever popular Newport Ave. They have cheap grub thats definitly great!
