I am a connoisseur of Chinese food and have sampled Chinese fare all over the country; Bay Area, LA, Seattle, the midwest and, of course, San Diego. The best Szechuan Chinese food can only be had at Spicy City. I've been a loyal diner there since Spicy City opened in 2002. Even standard Chinese dishes like Orange Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork and Won Ton Soup will surprise you at Spicy City. You haven't had these standard dishes until you've had them at Spicy City! My recommendations are that you try a few dishes and eat family style. Try the Spicy Boiled Beef, Baby Bok Choy with Black Mushrooms, Chef's Special Green Beans and Ma Po Tofu. If you don't want your food too spicy, the chef will easily tone it down at your request. (There is one dish I'd recommend skipping -- some sour cabbage thing.)

If you can take it, their husband and wife dish is the best! Their spicy egg plants might be a little harder to handle. Your tongue burns after the first few bites.
It is always crowded there so if your hungry, go early
The wait can be more than half an hour.

This is a great little chinese restaurant known for their spicy dishes. The menu is full of spicy items. For those who like spicy food, this is a great place.
The food is relatively priced, around $10 a dish.
The place is pretty small, and there is no reservations.
If you have a small party, you should be fine. If you have a big party, be prepared for waits up to an hour. they only have 2-3 large tables.
Some recommendations are the Husband and wife, the eggplant, mapo tofu, house fried rice and the fish dishes.
For those who can't handle spicy, be prepared to gulp down lots of water.
For those who like really spicy, you might be slightly disappointed. The dishes are about medium spicy.

Spicy City is not for the weak stomach! While there are some mild dishes there for those who cannot handle hot foods, they are known for their entrees that bite back. I can handle spiciness extremely well, and there were still things we ordered that challenged my limits. Be prepared to drink a lot of water! Do not be fooled by the spiciness, as you may think that may cover food of mediocre quality. The food tastes great!
