Bronx Pizza has recieved the San Diego City's Best Award for Best Pizza 5 years in a row!! My husband and I consider ourselves true pizza conissuers, and I think it's safe to say Bronx is the best pizza we've ever had!!! I have told everyone I know about Bronx, and so far everyone has agreed with me. This New York style place is a small, comfy pizza joint on a busy street in Hillcrest. The walls are filled with images of famous boxers, the real Bronx in NY, NY baseball team jerseys and critically acclaimed awards the pizza place has one. The staff is a little gruff, and will not wait for you to "decide" what you want. Make sure to come in with your mind made up. Whole Pizza Pie orders ($13.50) are taken on the outside window of the building and Slice orders are taken inside at the register. They have a great 2-Slice and Soda deal for around $5. The crust is thin, the sauce is minimal, the toppings are plentiful, and the cheese is out of this world!!! A truly PERFECT pizza. They import their water from New York city to make their dough to give it a truly original taste. You hungry yet? :)

I was very skeptical when my friend told me he wanted to try out this place. It's a tiny place, a little hole in the wall.
However, looks don't mean everything, and it really didn't mean anything about this place.
This place has the best pizza ever! It's a different style from what most Californians eat, using a thin, crispy crust rather than a doughy crust. however, it's very very good, and for those who love New York pizza, very very authentic. Being a New Yorker myself, I felt at home eating here.
The place even has a New York feel to it. The pizza makers have a kind of gruff manner which some might be offended by. They aren't mean--they are just projecting a nicer version of the New York atmosphere.
This little place is actually quite recognized and loved, and not just by me. If you sit down to eat, you'll see the walls are full of awards for best pizza place in San diego from nationally acclaimed restaurant critics and magazines.
Bronx pizza also offers a variety of toppings you won't find anywhere else.
Highly recommended is the three cheese pizza, the pesto and mushroom, and the primavera.

From a true New Yorker's point of view, this place is so-so. There's never anything like New York Pizza. They claim to import New York's water to make the dough. However, it still does have very good pizza for San Diego and its attempt at making the place seem like New Yorks is nice. Pretty friendly service also.
