California's first mission was named San Diego de Alcala in honor or Saint Didacus of Alcala. The tiny mission struggled for many years, enduring not only illness and poor crops, but fighting off Indian attacks. After six years, the mission moved from its original location to a new site with fertile soil and fresh water, about six miles up the river.
Visitors will find a restored church built in 1813. You can stroll on the grounds, and visit the church and mission exhibits
The complex's treasures also include Father Serra's room, an original bell and an original Spanish choir stall.
The mission is accessible by automobile or the San Diego Trolley. It's located right by Qualcomm Stadium.

Nice Catholic Church. Go to attend several Masses. Lots of activities going on at that parish. Friendly priests and welcoming people. Choir is good. Mass at different times for the convinience of everyone. Confessions are held weekly. Call the parish rectory to inquire about becoming a member of the parish. Or just show up to Mass!

When I attended church I attended the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. All the pastors were very supportive of any problems anyone had. They dont push you to attend church too much - you choose your own pace. They also dont push donations much, I know some people dont like that in churches. I would recomend them to anyone trying to find their inner-selves.

I have been to many churches where the atmosphere is less than it should be, with insular congregations reluctant to include outsiders. College Avenue Baptist Church is like a breath of fresh air. I particularly enjoy the Flood services on Sunday evenings. The views they take tend toward liberal, and they have a strong commitment to making a difference in the world in a way that matters physically as well as spiritually.

I actually went to this day care when I was little. I have fond memories of the place and remember learning good skills for playing with other children and how to be courteous and polite. The teachers have always been kind and I am certain the new teachers are too. I am very happy that my mother sent me there.

Buddha's Light has a very calming atmosphere, and I sometimes just stop in for de-stressing (though I almost always leave with a great book). This bookstore is small, but the selection is absolutely huge, as all of the books are on the specific topic of buddhism. I have not found another bookstore as specific as this one, and even though they're a small store, the prices are all below retail! I've found identical books at the chain stores, and they're always more expensive. The staff at Buddha's knows their stuff, and will direct you to books that'll best benefit you, based on your interests.

I had never been to a religious science church before, and out of curiousity, attended services one week. I called ahead of time to be sure it was okay, and the people at Light of Life were thrilled that I was showing interested in just learning more about their religion. I was warmly welcomed when I arrived, and they had graciously put together some information for me to take home and read. There was no pressure to join the church, and while I decided this was not the religion for me, I was very impressed with the people at this church.

Even if you're not a member of this church, you're welcome to particpate in one of the several community activities they are active in. I don't attend The Potter's House, however, the church I regularly attend never seems to have group civic activities that work with my schedule. I called The Potter's House, as I consistently saw their name attached to several volunteer opportunities. They were very welcoming, friendly, and happy to have more people to help. You can do a number of different things, like regular clean-up of local parks, working at the food pantry, or reading with children in the afternoons. I find it very rewarding.

I go to this church almost every week because it's the closes to home that I can get. The church looks ok, actually it's getting better because it's been renovated. I like the community here.
