Adams Avenue Bicycle has been a constant since I have been in San Diego and a trustworthy shop for all of my bikes service needs. From regular tune-ups to upgrading parts I have had nothing but a friendly and fair experience. Above and beyond that they are big supporters at the San Diego Velodrome in Balboa Park and helping to keep alive (in this country anyway) the wonderful sport of track racing! Be sure to stop by even just to say hello, you will love the feel of the shop as well as all the kind folks!
In a world of Wal-Mart like conglomerates, it is refreshing to have a neighborhood shop like this around!

What a nightmare!...I contracted with this company for chairs, arch and table for a wedding on the beach. THEY NEVER SHOWED UP. I even paid and extra $100 for set up and same-day pick up.
When I called after the wedding, they could not be bothered. I have called to speak to the owner 4 more times, and each call is being ignored. It was bad enough that the wedding situation was horrible, but even worse is their lack of integrity and professionalism, exemplified by an unwillingness to address the problem they caused and the issuance of a refund. I now have to pursue this legally to get the money back, though nothing can compensate for the lack of delivery at the ceremony. What a catastrophe.
Picture if you can, a wedding cake that had to be set on the sand, guests who had to stand, some of whom were elderly and infirm, and the gifts dropped on the sand.
I don;t want anyone else to have the experience I have had, the unreliability and an unwillingness to refund the money for a service they didn;t perform....
Pros: I wish I could give ZERO stars
Cons: Didn't show and wouldnt refund the money

True kayakers - their staff consists of every kind: touring, recreational, whitewater, racing, surfing, even paddleboarders! I've paddled with these guys for years and can truly recommend them: anyone looking for kayaks, gear, clothing, a roof system, a trailer - this is the only place south of Monterey to go!
Pros: Service, Location, Boats, Gear, Retail, Rentals, Quality

This store rocks. It's like walking into an old time mom and pop store where the owners and family run the store. They really care about your needs whether it's comics, gaming, or CCG tournaments. The owner, Jim, really knows his stuff, in fact, there isn't alot you can't ask this former Bio-Physicist turned Comic and gaming guru. Saturdays are where its at and the store can become really crowded and has a real energetic buzz in the air from the kids to the adults playing in the tourneys. Wednesdays, new comic days are fantastic, with Jim, Marina, Kelly, Nick and Bryan working hard to make sure all the pulls are ready for the regular customers and that all questions are answered for the new customers. The best thing about this store is they aren't after your money, they want your business, and definitely want you to come back. They will give you an honest answer and you don't come by that kind of honesty in this day and age. This store has recently expanded to accomodate the crowded Weekend sessions and I am sure that the Comic crowd will welcome this space too. If you really want to check out the flavor of an old time San Diego Comic Store since 1974, you should check out the conveniently located Artifex Entertainment off the 15 freeway. They really are friendly, and will tell you where to get what you are looking for if they do not have it. How's that for service? !!!!

We live in a high rise and were searching for a solution for our puppy and potty training needs. Greg and Paul were happy to show us around their interesting store and answer our questions. The synthetic grass was just what we needed, and it looks good, too.

What can I say about the Bazaar Del Mundo? It's touristy, it's on the tacky side, and I absolutely loved it! Perhaps it's all the bright colors, mariachi music, or the pitcher of sangria I shared before visiting. Any way you visit, you'll be guaranteed a lively time. There's a ton of really cool boutique shops selling goods from local artisans and a few restaurants intermingled. Crowds get crazy during the summer, and it makes it uncomfortable to move around the tiny shops. Still, a touristy must-see!

Bernie's Bicycle shop has a good selection of high quality rugged mountain bikes. They have men's, women's, and children's bikes so you can shop for the whole family. Not that you'd necessarily would want to, as you may leave a big whole in your pocket. The sales staff are friendly and let you browse around and try a few bikes without hounding around you the whole time. They have a decent repair shop. Overall, good place to look for higher end rugged mountain bikes both if you're in the market to buy one and if you're only looking to see what's out there.

I bought my first beach cruiser at Bernie's. I did a lot of research and found the bike I wanted, and Bernie had it and at the cheapest price. When I needed a quick release installed for my roof rack, he installed it for me, did a great job, and it was cheap. Great prices, but nothing cheap about the service.

big five is a good place to buy sporting goods if you are starting. They dont really have the hardcore pro stuff but you can find a lot beginner stuff. you can find everything from guns to fishing poles to even camping equipment. it reminds me a lot of sports chalet but a little cheaper and lest extravagent. I recommend going to this store if you play tennis because they have a pretty big selection.
