I love this place. I remember going here in elementary school and being intrigued for hours because there is so much to learn. The imax theatre is so cool and you can even see popular films here now a days. With its proximity to Balboa park, you can check out the other museums nearby if you even get bored of it. I like the shop where you can pick up little gadgets after you finish exploring the museum.

The Reuben H Fleet Space Center is a very unique place. Not only is it a place of learning and education, it is also an amazing amount of fun. Kids and adults of all ages can learn and enjoy what the Fleet has to offer. Top it off, there is an IMAX theater as well. If you go on a regular day, it is about $12 to go to the fleet and watch and IMAX. If you go on a Friday you can catch an IMAX for $6. Less than the cost of a regular movie at the theaters. They call it Fridays at the fleet.

For the longest time, I didn’t even know that there is a science museum in the Balboa Park or that there’s an IMAX theater there. I thought Balboa Park just has gardens and art museums. Recently, I found about the science museum and I was quite happy to see it. They currently have an Einstein display that is quite interesting. I recommend anyone who likes science to visit this place.

Even thought it might cost a little, its worth the money!

For my birthday, I got surprised with a membership to the Reuben Fleet Science Center. Deep down, I am a huge science geek, and I love seeing the exhibits and special programs that science centers usually have.
Unfortunately, the Reuben Fleet Science Center, does not have many rotating exhibits and if they do, they are a very small portion of the actual space (the Einstein one was in one small area near the IMAX line and consisted of a few signs that gave a timeline of Einstein's life and career -- hardly scintillating). They do have a good show called "the stars at night" which shows constellations and afterwards, the local astronomy society has telescopes outside for you to peek at the sky.
Otherwise the exhibits are the typical ones you see at most every science centers. Several exhibits were closed because they were broken, and they don't seem to get fixed very quickly. It makes me sad because I think maybe the science center is underfunded and/or underutilized.
The Science Center is apparently wired for free wifi, although I've never successfully gotten it to work.
They do have several IMAX movies showing, so you do have a choice, although they don't change them very often. They do change a special featured one on a weekly basis for Friday nights though.

My favorite part is the IMAX dome, one of a kind way to see an IMAX flick. Please check this place out you will not be disappointed. If you are an Einstein fan it’s a must. You can even fly off into the future in the Nierman Challenger Learning Center, a realistic Mission Control mock-up and 21st-century space station. Kids will absolutely love this place, and adults will have the opportunity to act like kids, what more can you ask for. If you bring the kids, avoid the gift shop…there are so many cool gadgets and science project toys they will want you may have to take out another mortgage on your house.

Reuben H Fleet is one of the only Imax theaters in Southern California. They frequently rotate their movies and have the necessary cheesy "Pink Floyd" and other rock laser concerts. In the exhibit hall they have themed interactive science experiments. Even people who don't want to read through the cards to find out what they are about will be entertained. The hall is fairly large and is multistory, and there are enough exhibits to keep you entertained for at least 2 hours.

The Reuben Fleet Center has an IMAX theater inside that plays mostly science related films, but the price is relatively cheap if you just want to experience an IMAX film. The best part is the exhibit galleries which feature lots of hands-on science "toys". If you have kids, it's a great place to get them excited about science. If you're just a "big" kid, well, it's fun to play with the toys too. They also offer planetarium shows.

This science museum had a travelling show from Robert Scary's book themes. It was so popular that they decided to open something more permanent. It is designed for the youngest visitors. Toddlers are likely to find it the most fun. Exhibits (toys?) are at their level and oriented towards their abilities. They say younger can come but my 10-month old was more interested in the other kids than the new exhibit. I will be coming back very soon though.

I absolutely love the Reuben H. Fleet Science Museum in San Diego's Balboa Park Area. The target audience is more of a youthful elementary and pre-teen age, rather than for older visitors. However, it is fun and still educational for everybody. The exhibits are always changing, so you can take your kids every year. To me, I love the Science Center because it is a huge playplace with many games, virtual reality acitivies, interactive exhibits, IMAX movies, motion simulators, and much more. The colors in the museum are bold and bright, suggesting a very youthful and exciting ambience.
