I never expect much from a restaurant I have never been to, exactly because of places like this. Where to start...hm...there was no one in the place, but they asked for reservations. The salsa was watered down tomato juice and parsely or something. Meat was overcooked, looked like roadkill and tasted like an inner tube. The sides were puree'd piles of green, brown and white (i am guessing guac, beans, and sour cream...i really hope it was sour cream). Water for the table tasted like it had been squeezed out of the dishrags. Sitting outside the view was great and service was acceptable. Maybe they should stop serving mexican food, open up the bar, change the name to La Fiesta Keg's and Wings and actually make something out of this place... Oh and if there are all 1 star reviews, and only one 5 star, that does not make this a four-star citysearch muy mal :(

The water that collects after three dozen Frenchman who haven't showered in six months would taste better than this place. I can't stress this enough...NEVER, EVER, for any circumstance, eat here. Being from LA, I frequent San Diego a fair amount of times throughout the year, so I?m familiar with the Gaslamp District and 5th Ave. Also, being from LA, I know what great, good, and decent Mexican food tastes like. This restaurant served nothing of the kind. The salsa tastes like canned tomato pure with a little salt and sugar. That worried me right from the start. I ordered the carne asada, which also came with a cheese enchilada. The carne asada looked like someone peeled a raccoon off of a big rig tire, then burned it to a crisp over a charcoal grill and threw it on a plate. Now, I?ve never tasted something like I described above, but I?m sure that what they served me is what it would taste like. So, how do you mess up a cheese enchilada? Ask this place, because they massacred it. You?re thinking, how is that possible? A corn tortilla, cheese, and some enchilada sauce?how hard is that? Apparently, it?s like rocket surgery to the chefs/microwave technicians that work at this place. I literally took one bite of the carne asada and one bite of the enchilada. That?s all I ate at this place. My friends that were with me ate about the same from their plates. They ordered the chicken enchiladas and the chimichanga. WOW. We had to go the tequila bar across the street called the Lime to wash away the bad taste this place left. I?ve had bad Mexican before, and usually it was outside of California. I?ve even had a little bit in California. I?ve never had something this bad. Even with the great patio seating, the service, the energy and excitement of 5th street at night, this place still managed to ruin our night in San Diego. Save your money and buy something from the freezer section at your local supermarket, you?ll be much more satisfied.

this place was so wrong i have to warn everyone to try another mexican place on gaslamp. for $20 entrees i was expecting some good food. but it was worse than taco bell i swear to god. i ordered paella and i think the seafood was rotted. it was defnitely so old the whole plate reaked and i couldn't even eat more than 3 bites because the seafood tasted so old and smelly. i was afriad i would get sick. my friend ordered tamales in mole sauce and those fools put chocolate syrup in the mole. this is definitely not authentic mexican food because we all know mole has a base from chocolate. but some idiot in the kitchen who is definitely not mexican put hersheys chocolate syrup in the sauce. you could taste it and now i know what fckn chocolate syrup tastes like on tamales. its fckn nasty dont ever try it and avoid this place at all costs. i paid for my unfinished meal in full and didnt return my food, but i made sure to let the waiter know the food was wrong. and the waiter wasnt surprised and seemed to agree with me. this place is sht, whoever is the chef really s*cks. this place needs gordon ramsay makeover because the cooks dont know food from caca or dont give a sht. Pros: friendly waitstaff nice gaslamp district atmosphere Cons: the food is grade F. total rip off on the prices for serving you sht.

well, i do not know how that people can say it is now good. it is wonderful. i really tought it was really good. from the salsa, to the appetizer. i do not know who make more authentic food, my mom or la fiesta. it was just the best decision to pick. if you are planning to go, don't doubt it. the nachos, the margarita, everything. i honestly, recommend it. price, not expensive, hey! don't forget, you are in the middle of downtown, do not expect taco shop prices of $1.71 per taco, you know that is more pricey. anyways, just go, and do not drive to get there because in Gaslamp, you can't get there easily. Pros: everything. margaritas, appetizers, service Cons: mentioned before, DO NOT DRIVE IN GASLAMP

We drove to San Diego and took my sister-in-law to lunch. But I am sorry to say that the experience ruined our entire trip. My sister-in-law and my husband became very ill from the fish tacos.

I have eaten at many San Diego Mexican restaurants in my life, and this was the most disappointing, the most over priced, & the worst service. Two adults and two teenagers, we had 3 sodas, one cocktail, 3 appetizers and 2 salads. The bill was 90 bucks before tip. One of the appetizers was nachos, Tio Lio's or El Torrito make better nachos. The nachos had stips of steak on them, not carne asada. The guacamole was from costco and the sour cream was blan. two of the other appetizers were ceviche. it might as well been pico de gallo with bits of fish, at that the fish was cheap gutter fish. The salads were terrible. i had the fiesta salad. it was mixed greens with tortilla chips and pico de gallo. The cocktail: Mojito, was terrible. it might as well been lemonade with cheap rum. The service started off good. we were sat right away, the server saw us right away, but after our order was taken we never saw him again. only the bus boy was left to serve our food and refresh our drinks. I had to ask the bus boy for my check. There were at most 4 other tables with people eating. It was definately not busy. Worst mexican restaurant in San Diego ( no hyperboli )

The salsa is hot though, so beware! I ordered a pollo relleno dish- chickn wrapped over avocado; it was really great. Their lobster chimichanga was good but not superb; the pollo relleno was definetely better. Overall, not your cheap/fast Chipotle or Roberto's; a lot more upscale.
