The food at Fuji was great, the prices for sushi were good. However, I called the restaurant several weeks after my visit and asked for a copy of my itemized receipt so I could be reimbursed by my company. The man on the phone was willing to help and got my receipt, but when I asked him to mail it to me (I live 1,200 miles from San Diego) he quickly said, "We can't do that. That's not a service we provide."
Too bad their customer service is lackluster. Otherwise I would have given this place 5 stars!

Fuji is an awesome sushi place but it is hidden behind the freeway. This Japanese restaurant offers great sushi where you get to watch TV at the sushi bar and you get to watch the sushi maker make awesome tricks while he's cooking. The service is also really fast so I strongly recommend it.

My friends and I love this place. It is like Benihana's, but with better service and food for the price. The wait staff is very friendly, and I don't know what that person who rated this place one star was thinking. Not like I saw a bunch of mexicans, but does that person hate mexicans so she complained? I don't know. Anyway, to get seated without a reservation doesn't take a long time, but I would recommend a reservation for a big group. My husband and I love the fried rice here, ultra tasty. We have eaten at this restaurant about 5 times since we've lived in San Diego, and each time keeps us coming back. Highly recommended.
Pros: price, wait time, service, parking
Cons: not as trendy as benihanas..boohoo

Last year my family and I stumbled upon Fuji Steakhouse. We were trying to get into Benihana?s but the wait was 1.5 hrs. We saw Fuji Steakhouse on the way and decided to turn around and try it. My whole family was very surprised and impressed by the cheep prices and the high quality food and entertainment. This restaurant is very similar to Benihana?s where the chief cooks at your table and puts on a show while doing so. My kids loved the volcano, and the food is just as good if not better than Benihana?s but at a fraction of the cost. The staff was very friendly and attentive, we never wanted for anything. I would highly recommend Fuji Steakhouse to anyone who is looking for a great meal at an affordable price. There deserts are very unique and very good as well. I have been back several times and always leave very satisfied.
Pros: food, entertainment, service
Cons: needs a little TLC outside

Their website says all the right things and appears professionally done.
Had I not arranged a party of eight for a birthday, I would have walked out early on in our experience. The building itself looks neglected.
From our dinner seats we stared at (long established) cobwebs above our heads in the exhaust/lighting hoods. The wasabi was prepped on the fly from powder (confirmed) lacking proper consistency and flavor. The ginger was CHEAP low quality. All the food appeared and tasted low quality. The tomatoe in our salad was hard and had no flavor. The Teppanyaki Chef was Mexican and unskilled (dropped food on table, off grill, etc. - REPEATEDLY), not to mention UNAUTHENTIC. One person is our party eventually commented that the chef reminded him of a crackhead. My vegetable dish was a greasy mess that I didn't even eat.
When I called for the manager the next day, a woman unable to speak English greeted me with, "Ola". Again, since she was unable to speak English (and I don't speak Spanish) she couldn't acknowledge the problem. She said her boss was on vacation for a month.
How frustrating. This experience was poor on just about every level. The place has a general neglected appearance. It's website is a joke and total contradiction to our experience!
I can only guess that a place like this is a tourist trap.
Pros: We found parking without a problem.
Cons: Everything else.
