The black has the neatest gifts and novelty items, as well as things like incense, candles, and pipes. They have funny t-shirts in the back and even baby clothes. Prices are high but you get what you pay for, and awesome store to window shop or buy at.

This store rocks. It's like walking into an old time mom and pop store where the owners and family run the store. They really care about your needs whether it's comics, gaming, or CCG tournaments. The owner, Jim, really knows his stuff, in fact, there isn't alot you can't ask this former Bio-Physicist turned Comic and gaming guru. Saturdays are where its at and the store can become really crowded and has a real energetic buzz in the air from the kids to the adults playing in the tourneys. Wednesdays, new comic days are fantastic, with Jim, Marina, Kelly, Nick and Bryan working hard to make sure all the pulls are ready for the regular customers and that all questions are answered for the new customers. The best thing about this store is they aren't after your money, they want your business, and definitely want you to come back. They will give you an honest answer and you don't come by that kind of honesty in this day and age. This store has recently expanded to accomodate the crowded Weekend sessions and I am sure that the Comic crowd will welcome this space too. If you really want to check out the flavor of an old time San Diego Comic Store since 1974, you should check out the conveniently located Artifex Entertainment off the 15 freeway. They really are friendly, and will tell you where to get what you are looking for if they do not have it. How's that for service? !!!!

The Freak Factory is just a nifty place to check out if you're in the area. They have a good sized inventory of a whole mess of things, from candles to T-shirts. The atmosphere is really fun and laid back. It's an experience you should have sometime. Definitely get some incense while you're there, they have a big variety and good prices.

This is the kind of place that makes you glad you live in San Diego. Charlie, the owner, takes a real interest in his customer's comfort. The store not only carries top cigar brands like Punch, Davidoff and Arturo Fuente, but unbranded seconds of H. Upmann and La Flor Dominicana. There are cigars from 99 cents up to $30. Since they are strictly a tobacco shop, you can smoke in the store. They have several leather couches, a widescreen projection television, refreshments and more. They carry a full line of pipes, humidors and such.

Captain Hunt's is probably the best stocked tobacco shop in San Diego. They have hundreds of different flavors and brands of cigars available. The also sell a large variety of loose tobacco. You can pick up pipes, ashtrays and lighters here as well, at good prices for quality products. You can purchase almost anything to meet your smoking needs at Captain Hunt's and will be assisted by informative and friendly employees.

Game empire is one of very few game stores. Game, not meaning video games with all that technology but more of hobby games. They carry everything from trading cards to role playing games and even classic board games such as chess and checkers. They are one of VERY few stores that still carry Yomega Yo-Yo's which are pretty hard and rare to find now. Prices are reasonable but you will enjoy what you buy in the future.

Mrs. Burton's Tea Room is tucked into an old Victoria in Old Town. I came here with my mother and mother-in-law for a good old fashioned tea. We got unlimited tea and a tiered tower of finger sandwiches and nibble sweets ... enought to leave full. There are lot of hats and boas that you can wear to make your experience even more memorable. I believe reservations are required. This is also a popular spot for baby showers too.
