I've been to the Union St. location about 1,000 times and always have a consistently positive experience. From large birthday gatherings to coffee with a friend to happy hour after work - I have never been disappointed. Their desserts are their namesake - and are truly Extraordinary in taste and presentation. However, their wine and cheese selection is excellent, as are their appetizers - interesting flavor combinations. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, although some do come with a little attitude to match the modern Asian-inspired decor. But hey, it's not TGI Fridays, right? They are always accommodating - even when I brought my baby and she was fussing, the waitress offered to package our entire dinner and desserts AND wine to go in these adorable packages.
Recommendations: Viking Cake paired with Kona Coffee or a glass of Pinot
Pros: Tantalizing menu, knowledgeable staff
Cons: service OK

we came here randomly on a wednesday night and I was pleasantly surpirsed. I've been living in San Diego for a little over a year, so I'm still exploring bars and cool spots. This is my favorite bar downtown. The crowd is great- good mix of people and not overly pretentious. You can wear a dress of you can wear jeans and a casual T. There were older people there who I believe were in town for a convention, and it looked as though they were enjoying themselves too. Music was great.
Pros: best view of coronado island, point loma, and downtown
Cons: mojitos are a little pricey

My wife and I were visiting from Houston, TX, and we actually felt we'd be dissappointed coming from a state who's Mexican food is the best in the land. However, we were greatly suprised with OTMC!!
The tortillas are fabulous and served too hot to handle, Texas could learn a lesson from these babies. We had guacomole and ceviche as starters and both were outstanding. Having been to El Agave two nights before where the avacodos were hard as green pears, we were concerned but ordered anyway. It couldn't have been better! The ceviche was very good, but not excellent. It contained only white fish (like the munu stated), but had great flavor and plenty of fish, unlike those that try to strech it by adding too much tomatoes and onion.
My wife designed her own plate with a chicken enchallida, a cheese enchallida, and a tostado. She was extremely impressed and didn't leave a morsel. I had the carnitas platter; unlike Texas carnitas it didn't have any sauce served on it, but the pork as tasty as it was.
After two margaritas each and the meal described above we walked out for $65 (including tip), feeling we had just finished a meal fit for a "Mexican" king. Two nights before we left El Agave with a $144 tab, and not nearly as impressed with the food quality.
Again, this comes from a couple of Texan's who eat Mexican food in restaurants at least 3 times a week. Next time in San Diego, we'll have OTMC on our agenda for a couple of nights.
Pros: Food, Service, Value for Money
Cons: Parking, Wait, Noisy

I only discovered the Turquoise a year or two ago, and it is hands down my favorite place for dinner and drinks; first it's the ambience that hooked me, but the food is amazing, the service is friendly and attentive, the music is wonderful, and everyone is smiling--it’s really out of this world. I actually took a picture of my dish on Mother’s Day last year because it was such perfectly crafted haute cuisine, it was delectable, and yet it’s very inexpensive! Even better, I just discovered that they've added a bunch of new things to the menu, and they’re offering a new happy hour menu that’s fantastically reasonable (3$, if I remember correctly, for the tapas, and the portions are huge). Furthermore, the live music has been remarkable (jazz, blues, or flamenco, they change it up). This place is so civilized, sophisticated, and at the same time the height of decadence, and the owner has taken care of all the details: even the ladies’ bathroom is beautiful! I’m so glad he brought this little slice of Spain to PB; I can’t sing its praises highly enough!
Pros: great food, service, music, and best ambience in town
Cons: none, it's reasonably priced and very consistent

I can't say enough good things about the W hotel brand. Its always so consistent, with only the best amenities. I always feel welcomed by the staff, the rooms are luxurios with the best decor , and the beds are amazing. Would recommend this place every time. Its not the best value , and the prices are expensive, but the quality is the best.

We went here on a recommendation to start out a Girls Night Out. When we got there for our 7pm reservation, we found out it was happy hour until 8 and that meant 1/2 price EVERYTHING... drinks, food and WINE menu! We knew it was tapas so we ordered a bunch of plates to share but no one told us that these are fairly good size portions for "tapas" and we were totally stuffed before we got to dessert. : ( We left a lot of food on the table un eaten but only because we were full... the food was awesome. When the bill came it was $45 each for 5 of us to have way too much food and 3 bottles of good wine. I will say we might have made slightly different menu choices if it weren't 1/2 price... but we prolly could have done with about 1/2 the food we ordered. Oh and they were totally accomodating for a couple vegetarian requests also.
Pros: Happy Hour
Cons: Low table height
