I looooove Bandar's chicken kabab and green salad. My husband can't get enough of the lamb shank mixed with the hummus avocado...we could eat it everyday!
The staff service is also always very friendly and dressed nicely.

This is one of the best kept secrets in San Diego; an extraordinary restaurant in OB offering French cuisine. I always heard great reviews about this place. We finally visited the restaurant last week during their fall 3 course meal with wine pairing. It was delicious! From the appetizer to the dessert accompanied by a great port! The staff was very helpful and friendly. Two thumbs up!

I've been for happy hour, dinner and the tasting menu and none disappointed. The beef is always perfectly cooked and the seared foie gras is to die for. The wine list is also wonderful. Once I made a reservations because everyone in my party wanted to try the foie gras and have a drink, but when we arrived they were out and failed to tell us before we were seated, even though I had mentioned the reason when I made the reservation in person just a couple hours earlier. Usually, though, the service is fantastic and interior is probably the most lovely in all of SD.
Pros: Great food in a lovely atmosphere
Cons: Can occasionally slip up with service

Let's just say we flew from Hawaii, drove from LAX to San Diego specifically to eat at Blue Point! Well sort of, we were supposed to stay in Anaheim for 3 nights but only stayed 2 nights. We spent the day driving, sleeping in San Diego, ate dinner, slept and went to Anaheim. So sort of...
I think what makes the Blue Point so special is the flavors and the techniques exhibited by Chef Jonathan Hale and his staff. I say techniques because of the perfection of the fish as well as their steaks. My first visit in April during a business trip I ordered the NY steak and had to remind myself it wasn't a filet. It was tender and done to perfection. This time we had fresh oysters, shrimp cocktail, soup, halibut and ribeye. Everything was superb! The flavors were distinct in every dish with a "WoW" factor in every bite.
Let me also mention that on both occasions the wait staff was incredible with great advice and answers to our questions. They made the experience so much enjoyable. Getting back to Jonathan, we had a chance to meet him as he was walking by and let me just say that he is truly a gentleman and very approachable. He truly makes this a special restaurant that we will frequent anytime we are in CA. I told him to open one in HI!
Pros: The food! Fish and steaks, fresh oysters, service
Cons: parking

I've been going to this venue off and on since the '80's when it was Casino Valadier. The restaurant itself hasn't changed much since then and it offers a very warm intimate ambiance. I have so many great memories of going there with my then- (boy)friend (now husband). We moved away from San Diego for a few years, but when we returned to San Diego we headed here and were not disappointed. The food is always good and the service is very attentive.
Cons: Parking is usually difficult.

This place is great! I was visiting San Diego for business and found this place on CitySearch. Thought it sounded interesting. The food was excellent and the drinks were even better! Try the Hawthorn's martini! The bartender chatted me up the whole time and the wait staff was also very fun. I was impressed. Worth a try!
Pros: Everything!

My husband, 16 yr old daughter and myself arrived in the Downtown area with the intent of watching the Air Races at San Diego Harbor. Well, we parked at Horton Plaza and realized that we were very hungry. We wandered up to the food court and wah-lah - there was Napa Valley Grille. My husband has always had a penchant for Napa Valley food and wine so we HAD to try this place. We ordered baked Brie which came with pita-like flat bread, roasted garlic and carmelized onions. Mmm, mmmm..... My daughter and I split a baked crab sandwich. It was an open faced sandwich made of the bread mentioned in another review, crab salad, a tomato with cheese on top. The sandwich is then toasted and cheese is melted to a delicious crunch. The crab sandwich came with a salad (mixed greens) with a light dressing. My husband ordered the hamburger - not your typical hamburger. Excellent quality meat and delicious fries. We don't usually order dessert, but since the food was so good, the three of us agreed that we HAD to try the Brie cheesecake. Oh boy! It was more like a mousse - so light and tasty. Wished we had ordered coffee with it, but we were off to the air races.
We sat outdoors on the roof-top patio and we could just see that planes darting around and the fly-overs by the military jets and the parachute jumpers. It was a beautiful early fall day and we couldn't ask for a better setting.
Pros: Good food, good wine, great service, lovely menu
Cons: Might be windy or chilly outside

I would have to agree with the rest of the reviews for Exy here, I went for dinner last week with my girlfriend and we were both very impressed. The decor and ambience is very nice and sleek and the service was excellent. The food was the greatest highlight though, I had the lamb which was superb we had the flaming appetiser to start, which I forget the name of but was also great. We will definately be returning again soon and will be recommending this spot to our friends!

This place has great food, a classy environment, and excellent service, but be prepared to pay for it. It isn't cheap. Still, for a nice evening out, it's just the ticket.
