This is NOT "New York style pizza" by this adoptive New Yorker's definition, and not "one of the best in town" (as reviewed elsewhere here) by ANY true foodie's definition. The "crisp" crust was oversauced and soggy, the toppings franchise-average, the seasoning pedestrian.
I'd prefer franchise fare over this any day, especially since City Pizzeria's prices exceed typical franchise prices by about 15%(?!). The only good thing I have to say about this experience is that the delivery was quick (as it should be, at only 1/4 mile from my East Village high-rise).
Resident East Villagers and visitors, if you want REAL New York style stick with Pizza Station on Park between Broadway & C (in the SmartCorner complex, with entrances both directly on Park and via the City College station Trolley platform) despite its narrow menu and relatively restricted hours of operation. I know, I know...great pizza in a convenience store??? But improbable as it sounds, Pizza Station is the real thing: inexpensive, fast, consistently good-quality ingredients, as close to authentic New York style as I've yet found here on the Left Coast. And who knows what might happen if enough of us NY-pizza lovers beg Pizza Station to stay open later...
Pros: Fast delivery in immediate neighborhood
Cons: Overpriced pizza not in style advertised

The spinach and sun dried tomato is really good. I also enjoy their mushroom and ricotta pizza. Huge chunks of ricotta and lots of mushrooms! God, it's so good!
They've also got a sweet lunch special where you can get two slices of pizza and a soda for five bucks. Score!
This place also has a good selection of beers. And lately, my buddies and I have been coming here for an evening beer and sitting out in their spacious patio. The weather is perfect right now, so I recommend doing this at any establishment with a patio.
Head out to Luigi and try their pesto pizza too!

I think that this place must have changed ownership or something. The pizza quality has gone down since the first time that I had tried it. Not my first place of choice but not too bad.

The pizza here wasn't too bad. Definitely not my favorite place to go but it's not the worst. The service is always super nice which makes me go back there

Don't even think about eating the hot wings they serve here. They taste like they've been boiled with the skin on and then a rather watered down hot sauce is put on them and possibly stuck in a microwave. Limp and soggy. YUK! Certainly not worth the almost $8 price. If you can get the pizza in your mouth right out of the oven, it's okay. Walk a block and then eat your lunch, it generally taste undercooked, underspiced and cold.
Cons: Just bad food

City Pizzeria had some really good food. Even the kids liked it a lot and they are pretty picky eaters. It was definaitly worth the drive. We will be back as soon as we can!

Pizza hut and dominos have good coupons and the cheapest prices, but I would always rather support the local businesses than the larger chains. That's why I order from City pizzeria often. It's a bit more expensive, but they deliver right to my door downtown, and are always pleasant, on time, and gracious for the business. The pizza's decent, too.
Pros: nice people, good pizza
Cons: a little more expensive
