I recently made an appointment as a new patient here for a routine cleaning and to look at possibly replacing some old metal fillings with the white ones. When I came to my first appointment, they just looked in my mouth and gave me prices for the fillings. Then sent me to reception. I asked if they were going to clean my teeth. They told me I would have to come back. So (silly me) I made a follow up appointment. At this appointment the dentist ran one of those machines (planers) or something quickly over my teeth and I was done. No flossing, examing, nothing. I would not recommend them to anyone who wants to maintain an healthy mouth with good cleanings and attentive service.

The key to a great dental office--especially one that specializes in preventive dental services--is the dental hygenists. They do your cleanings and x-rays, and usually if things go well, the dentist only needs to reaffirm what the hygenist found during the cleaning. This office is excellent. The hygenists are extremely competent and thorough. The're gentle enough to not leave you with sore gums, yet you definitely leave feeling like your teeth have been cleaned. This is the best office for routine check-ups!

Our family has been going to Dr. Ostaad at Rite Family Dental for 5 years now and we think he's the best. For starters, they are open on Saturdays which is a huge bonus for anyone who has a demanding job (like being a dentist yourself). The office staff is perfect, and the dental hygienist does a superb job for cleanings and whitening teatments. Now back to Dr. Ostaad; he is a genuinely good dentist who takes pride in his work and is very good at it. His interest both in his patients and his work translates into being one of the best dentists I have ever known. Finally, their office is equipped with leading edge technology with real time digital imaging and xray in all rooms and computerized medical records; this means less paper mistakes.

Dr. Ostaad is the best dentist in San Diego. Ok, seriously, he is great. He has been our dentist for the past 4 years and I can't imagine if I had to go somewhere else. His office staff is exemplary. They are open on Saturdays for those of us who work during the week. Their office is state of the art with wall mounted computer screen for digital x-rays of your teeth right after they take them; you can actually see the cavities on the computer screen and so you know what the doctor is talking about. The best attribute of this dental practice is the compassionate care, best exemplified by Dr. Ostaad himself. Did I also mention that it's in the same lot as the Carmel Mountain Costco?
