Promises were not kept, timetables were not kept, cost was high, value low. Steve Janks himself left the country in the middle of the job. We hired Janks Construction to remodel our home. We were totally impressed with the professionalism and personal attention Steve Janks and his team gave us throughout the entire process. We found his showroom and design staff to be more than accommodating. We highly recommend them & would definitely use them for all future projects. Pros: on budget, on time Cons: none

After spending two years in Arbitration with Janks Construction, we were awarded damages for work done by Janks that was not to code, work not completed and work that failed to live up to minimal standards. The contract Janks used was illegal and the deposit he took was in excess of what the law permits. In addtition, Janks overcharged us and when called out on this he simply walked away. I could go on and on, but this should give you the picture. There are plenty of good honest contractors out there. Make sure you check out mulitple references, get everything in writing before signing the contract, and avoid being forced to use the Amercian Arbitration Association for dispute resolution. Their bread and butter is business, not consumers. Pros: None Cons: Numerous
