Infusions of Tea
8750 Genesee Ave. Suite 258
San Diego, CA 92122

Located right across University Town Center
mall, this is the perfect place to rest after a day of shopping.
When you first enter this cute tea shop you are greeted by a husband and wife duo with friendly smiles. The walls are lined with wonderful gifts that have anything to do with a relaxing cup of tea: tea pots, cups, dishes, books and even CD's. Behind the bar is a wall of vast assortments of teas from all regions of Asia.
If you have any questions about tea, don't hesitate...you might learn a thing or two about tea.
I also purchased a gift basket for some friends we were visiting that was to be made within the hour. The husband took the order of the various teas and told us to come back in an hour. When we returned, his wife had just finished putting the bow on a magnificent wicker basket of tins and foils of tea.
I was highly impressed and suggest to look to this establishment if you want to send a healthy beautiful gift.

This shop hands down makes the best coffee in town. I was first introduced to Deidrichs in the Orange County area and fell in love with it. Their iced drinks are great with additional whip with chocolate shavings on top.
At some of the leading chains I've received plenty of crummy drinks that haven't been mixed or still icey, but Deidrichs is always perfection. I'lll go out of my way to go to this shop in any town. Try it and I think you'll convert over.

Elan roasts their beans in-house, and you can definitely taste the difference. They're very proud of their organic certification and take great pains to ensure that they always serve a top-notch coffee. The result is a consistently good cup of cofee. The dark brews are rich and full-bodied, just as they should be. I like having a cup of cofee that you can drink black without needing to add 1/2 cup of sugar to it to either cut back on the boldness or give it flavor.

Finally, our Vons has all the upscale options - Starbucks, Florist, extensive gourmet section and the cool polished feel. Some of the staff are still the same, and I like that - they recognize you by sight. Vons is easy to shop through, too - well laid-out.

Grab a cup of coffee and settle into a comfy chair or grab a seat outside. This location is popular with the lap top folks. Not sure if this place offers wi-fi, or if people are just tapping into a network from one of the many condos above the cafe. Pastries at this location are alway a hit. Parking in Little Italy is hit an miss.

Mrs. Burton's Tea Room is tucked into an old Victoria in Old Town. I came here with my mother and mother-in-law for a good old fashioned tea. We got unlimited tea and a tiered tower of finger sandwiches and nibble sweets ... enought to leave full. There are lot of hats and boas that you can wear to make your experience even more memorable. I believe reservations are required. This is also a popular spot for baby showers too.

We had their Blood Orange tea elsewhere at first. But by dumb luck I managed to trace the source to Pannikin -- a retailer that specializes in coffees and teas. A lot of the teas you won't find elsewhere, and there are many unusual tisanes (herbal teas) as well, which is usually tough to find much beyond the usual mint and hibiscus tea suspects.
The space downtown is very charming, with a lot of ambiance. Besides the counter with rows of teas and coffees lined up, they have filled the stores with small knick-knacks from the world over. Naturally they have lots of teapots and mugs for sale as well. I would imagine that this would be the perfect place to find a gift for an aunt, grandma or mom at Christmas time too.
The teas are on the expensive side (about $4-5 for four ounces) but they are very tasty and fragrant. You don't need very much to brew up a mug either.

I've been here a few times since it's close to my work. Both times I have not been dissapointed. The menu features wraps, salads, soup and a few entree items. The spinach salad with chicken was very big and very tasty. I've also had the veggie sandwich and salad combo. Order at the counter and then grab a seat. Very busy during luch time, but the table turn over quickly. They also have smoothies and some dessert items. The place has a new orleans/jazz type theme and they always have great music playing. They also have a location downtown.
