I had my appointment on 1/22. Great experience with Dr. Ratner, great guy, great staff, the dog is nice and harmless. I was told 7-10 business days to get my glasses in. In the meantime, I referred 2 co-workers and they had an appointment on 1/27. They both got their glasses 5 business days later. Today is my 11th day without glasses, so I finally call. They failed to inform me that the lab was having problems such as lenses not passing inspection, scratches, they broke the frame and Optometric Express had to send out a new frame yesterday and failed to call me to let me know that there will be a delay. Today is 2/6, they say the glasses should be in by next Tuesday 2/10...we shall see! Pros: Appointment was easy to make, great exam, felt great when I left Cons: I had to wait 20 days to get my glasses...(13 business days)

At first they seemed very helpfull. Got my eye exam done for both glasses and contacts. I was told to call 4 days later and let them know which type of contacts I like better, I did. The man I spoke to told me he'd call back to let me know what was going on with my contacts, and he never did. So I wait about a month, finally I make a call asking what's going on. They report "there was a problem/delay in the shipment, it will be about 3 days." I would appreciate if someone would call to let me know of any changes so I'm not waiting and then have to call them to find out the situation. FINALLY get the call, drive there. "That'll be $110 for the contacts." I already paid for my glasses and my check up and using common sense why wouldn't I pay for the contacts with everything else? So I keep explaining what I thought would've happened, they keep saying NO NO.. you didn't pay. As I'm getting a credit card number outside, a lady comes outside to say they made a mistake. A 110 dollar mistake. I am never going back. They are not organized, only ONE person in there was making sure the information was correct and I thank her for that. The rest had the attitude of "no youre wrong". Very frustrated. Pros: Central location, clean enviornment. Cons: Unorganized.

Best eye exam I ever had. Doctor Ratner explained EVERYTHING. Staff helpful and courteous. Tried on dozens of frames and they told me the truth about how they looked on me. 1000's of frames to choose from. Would always recommend Optometric Express when anyone asks. Can't go wrong here!! You will love the place. IN the heart of Mission Valley in the Ralph's center right off Friars and the 163. Dr. Ratner really knows his contact lens business also.

Their customer service is pretty tight. They got it locked down. One time I got the wrong brand of contacts, and me is stupid right? So I try them, jus to see if it'll work, an it don't. Contacts too tight, squeeze my eyeball like girl that gots you in check. So they replace 'em free with my usual and took the opened set back. I call my contacts order in and its good all the time, well except the issue above, but that was fixed with a capital FXD. I just explained the issue, and they helped me out. Word. Dr Ratner is on point, explained questions, helpful. He knows to select the right contacts for you. I had the Accuve Oasys, they work. For disposables he h00ked it up with the Accu 1-day. Rocks. And the staff helped me out wit my contacts, I'm all fumble fingers, but they me set up. The staff is helpful, get to your order quick. Also the contacts are reasonable prices. And when I wanted a prescription they h00ked it up also. The dog's pretty chill, so it's all good. My last eye joint in OC was cool but they'd have these Yorkie dogs owned by the head manager and they would bark and chase after you and bite your a55, it was funny. Also the eyeglasses they have are stylin'. Would recommend them; they're really great. They came recommended from me by a relative, and its all good. Pros: Doc knows the deal, Jamba juice across the street, Cons: watch out for crazy / amped / CA drivers / no drivingest in rain CA drivers

twitchgal: I am manager of OPtometric Express. I would like to express my dismay and apologies for what you perceived as an "unfriendly" staff. We pride ourselves on our friendliness and have patients that actually tell us our office is one of the friendliest they have ever been to. I am glad that you liked our very competent doctor, Dr. Ratner, as he is very well known in the community. Also, there is only one dog that comes to the office. If there were others in the office it was probaby because many of our patients bring their dogs in to play with ours. Again, if there is anything we can do to rectify your unsatisfactory experience with our staff, just let us know. Sincerely, OPtometric Express

Very impressed with Dr. Ratner's service and ability to examine patients, but the office is literally a zoo with dogs freely playing and roaming around office. Had to call multiple times to send a perscription for outside pick-up and the receptionists were rude and unhelpful. Would not recommend this office unless you are desperate for a quick appointment.
