Happy Sushi is both mine, and my husbands favorite restaurant. Period. They have the freshest fish in town, and I highly recommend their yellowtail nigiri with ponzu sauce. The owners are both very nice, and the waitresses are fantastic. If you want to experience a great local sushi place I highly recommend this one.
Pros: the yellowtail
Cons: none

My husband and I decided last night, to take a nice walk and check out 'Happy Sushi' which is right in our neighborhood. We were very surpised...for a local sushi restaurant, it was good! We arrived right at 5p (they're closed from 3-5p) and was seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly, the service was great and we received our sushi rolls with-in 10 minutes. Their 'happy hour' is every hour, which is buy 2 - get 1 free. The size of the sushi's were pretty big and their draft beer was $2 a glass. I would highly recommend you go and give this place a try.
Pros: Every hour is 'happy hour': Buy 2 rolls - get 1 free
Cons: none

The sushi here is good, and I think they have a frequent stamp card.. if they still do that. Cheap and fresh rolls and the tempura ice cream is to die for!

I absolutely loved this place. It's well priced, has a variety of rolls and you can usually find coupons. Friendly staff and conveniently located near the freeway also.

I am posting the same review I have written on Yelp to here.
My husband and I have been to many Japanese restaurants big or small. After moving back to California, we found this place to be fairly inexpensive and "O.K." to have some sushi. So far, we have been to this place 3-4 times. The nice "inexpensive" menu changed on us tonight. Lets start with the service. Every single time we have been here. The service was just terrible. This has to be one of the worst. What's surprising is that our visits have been spread out over 3-4 months and it has not improved even from the same server. We tip 20% at most restaurants but can't honestly justify it for this one.
The Dynamite was just... not great. Most places they fill their dynamite with scallops, shrimps, and white fish. They filled it with salmon and tuna. The texture is just not good.
Over all, this place has become such a disappointment for us that we are likely to never return and go to Mr. Wasabi down the street instead.
Pros: "Used to be" cheap sushi
Cons: Bad service and not quite authentic

Happy Sushi is a nice place to go. You can often find coupons around town which makes it even better deals. They have a nice variety of rolls and a friendly atmosphere.

A few friends and I decided to try a different Japanese restaurant a few days ago. So we went to Happy?s Sushi. You never know what to expect when trying a small neighborhood restaurant.
It is located in a small strip center on Mira Mesa Blvd. Parking is very good and access easy. They have a number of tables and we seated ourselves. Every one was very friendly. There appeared to be only one waitress, but she was very good and efficient and seemed to handle all the tables with ease.
They had a nice selection of sushi and variety of other Japanese?s items. We chose some sushi and a few combination plates. The sushi was very good. The combination plates included teriyaki chicken and teriyaki beef. The menu said the combination plates included rice, miso soup, salad and several sides. When they arrived they looked great. The salad was fresh and the rice excellent. But we were disappointed in the beef and chicken.
We expected them to be served on small skewers and either freshly grilled or barbecued as with other places we have been. Instead they were just small pieces of meat mixed together with vegetables and sauce. The chicken was nearly inedible. It was not fresh tasting and may have been prepared much earlier and possibly even reheated. The beef was chewy and stringy with pieces of fat and gristle mixed in. All in all not what we expected.
So while we give their sushi a grade of A-, their combination plates get a D-. If we go back again, it will only be for the sushi. Oh...we never did get any miso soup.
Pros: Very good suchi. Good service.
Cons: low quality of beef and chicken

When I walked in I was greeted immediately and customer service was on the dot. The atmosphere was very nice and pleasing and made you feel like you were at home. All the servers are very beautiful women and are very polite. The server listens to all my requests of food ordered and does not hesitate to place the order into the kitchen or sushi chef. In a short amont of time food was brought out and served to me. The sushi is very fresh and does not smell fishy that you might smell at a few other sushi restaurants. The sauces that are topped on the sushi have very good flavor. The steak served from the kitchen was sizzling hot on hot plate brought out and caught others at full attention due to the sizzling and smell. My drink never ran emply and was always full. When it came to the bill the price is reasonable as with all other sushi restaurants. Parking is not a problem at all plenty of spaces. The restaurant special has this buy 2 sushi rolls and get the 3rd roll free of equal or lesser price. I must say this restaurant tops my hunger very well. Location is good especially for the local college students from UCSD. Once you have been to happy's sushi you will want to come back again and again.
